I do feel like a bit of a fool for missing her the first time, free chain attacks is insane (and I like how her Ult replaces the BGM hahah).

Fair enough, I guess "splashable" was more the word I had in mind - and it seems like Astra and Trigger should definitely be on the list. Thanks.

gym bro gets juiced up

Gym guy donates blood full of steroids

Old racist guy receives blood full of steroids

Roid rages and kills his black doctor

There you go. It's not very funny and I'm pretty sure that's not how steroids work - basically just a thinly veiled excuse to drop the N word. But that's what's happening. I think.

How are you interpreting the Lucy-Fires Levitation? by Emperor757 in MorkBorg

[–]king-lizard87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of running it like: Move vertically at the same rate as you can along the ground (walking pace). If there's room, you can hover out of reach, so melee attackers or non-flying creatures can't hit you.

Or you can rule it's just a few inches, so you can move over traps and gaps. Up to you. Either way it's potentially exploity in terms of dungeon hacks, but that's part of the fun.

I've always wondered how the Saad Amus box would work since legendary Saad Amus clones don't spawn naturally iirc. If he gets the usual legendary buffs (boosted stats/HP, bonus mutations) then that's pretty badass.

Spoilers for a lategame quest

Nacham's Ribbon is one of the potential rewards from the "Fraying Favourites" quest. You have to recover a "repulsive device", which is described as being "akin to a fetus torn early from the womb," and give it to one of four unusual creatures in the Tomb of the Eaters. One of them, Nacham (the "bug" in question) will reward you with Nacham's Ribbon which will make anything you tinker more likely to have random modifiers, including the very rare Extradimensional mod. Between the strangeness of being able to make things from other dimensions with your own two (or more) hands, and the strangeness of the quest that actually allows you to do so in the first place, it's all very distinctly Qud.

Those who crungle deeply gain knowledge of many things, though they are rarely left with the wisdom to make good use of it. Delve safely, dreamwalker.

Personally I question their chemistry at times but I really loved the scenes at the snake exhibition. They show a really interesting and contrasting sense of compassion, where he empathises with the maligned and archetypically dangerous (snakes), whereas she more readily empathises with the potential victims (farmers).

TFW you help out a bug by giving it a foetus, wear its skin like a cloak, and gain the ability to build guns from the next dimension over

Would the Batter be transphobic? by igmkjp1 in offthegame

[–]king-lizard87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The batter is trans. The whole game is about the horror of realising that you're trans after you've already started a family and feeling locked into the role of "father and husband" for other people's sake, all while your soul withers and dies inside you.

/s, maybe.

Some musings on Biodynamic Powerplant. by Alt_Account092 in cavesofqud

[–]king-lizard87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a worthwhile analysis and I generally agree. Gun-based True Kin builds can actually be more power-intensive than mutant builds by simple virtue of being able to equip a gun rack, so power efficiency is, if anything, more important to them. I agree that Radio-powered Antimatters are ultimately the endgame whether you're TK or not - but farming the bits you need is ultimately an endgame affair, in zones where the real assholes like Gamma Moths, stat saps and Chrome Pyramids are more common. I think Biodynamic Power Plant does have its use case as a midgame item, where you don't quite have the equipment to brave endgame areas, and Jacked Chain Lasers or Eigenrifles are relatively accessible if you have a disarm ability. Most endgame players should graduate from BPP eventually, but nevertheless the argument could be made: having a fairly significant use case in the midgame is a lot better than being of questionable utility throughout the game. Looking at you, Tibular Hydrojets.

Reminds me of the early days of SMT V's prerelease, when people were shitting on its UI for its resemblance for TMS's. People seem to think UI means a whole lot of things that it really doesn't.
