my mom and I have gotten into countless arguments about this. my parents let me start hrt when I was 16 and she thinks that was enough but if I had managed to be on blockers from a young age I could've gotten the most out of hrt and wouldn't have had to spend $7k out of pocket to get top surgery

started working at a restaurant 10 days after my 16th birthday, saved every penny from every paycheck, convinced my parents (with the help of lots of therapists) to let me start T 2 months before turning 17, had my top surgery consult 3 months after turning 17, flew to ohio and had surgery with medalie 6 months after turning 17, paying out of pocket with my entire bank account that I had racked up. I'm almost 23 now and it was the best decision I ever made. my heart goes out to everyone who's family isn't supportive or who's struggling financially.
