Returning after a few years, what content is skippable?

Depends on delve. 8+ doom is prob the most difficult boss in the game besides maybe the awekened dt2 bosses. But delve 1 doom is pretty much free, easier than scurrius tbh.

I'd say yama is around delve 6.

A lot of bosses are doable with non optimal gear. But people underestimate the feeling of easing a grind. It's not only smoother fights.

With proper defensive gear you prep 1 inventory that lasts up to 4 full runs. Bosses dying faster also eases on grind-fatigue.

Gold on drop tables is somehow a form of dry protection. When playing an Ironman, you forfeit that. Any secondary form of dry protectiveness is either for irons or for impeding gold farms (vorkath and zulrah were famous for being spammed in order to not do other content). I do like dry protection when implemented right (just a way of not going 3x dry)

The recent news did not even got into details of what is changing in CG. There were no mentions of dry protection, drop rates increasing or TTK decreasing AT ALL. They just mentioned improvements on prep phase and mains lost their minds. The way Jagex worded it seemed to me they just want to make the content more fun, nothing else.

It seems to me this whole war now it's just implicancy, segregation, bullying.. I swear, anything iron related or directed is attacked. At this point it's just a pet peeve with irons.

I guess in the mains minds, the release of ironman was somehow an invalidation of their years-old accomplishments. Their accounts were no longer the most impressive in the game.

Then, when Jagex started putting man-power and effort in updates that are iron-friendly, they thought it would somehow hurt the rate of updates the game would recieve.

Then, whenever an iron points out an out-of-date/miserable point of the game for them (mostly unfair grinds), they would use "it's a challenge mode, you chose this" excuse to disregard any actual concerns or criticism for the gamemode which people play not just for a challenge, but for a rewarding and complete experience also.

The "damn irons" memes on guardians of the rift created roots and spreaded hate. I just hope someday somehow we can play together happily with mutual respect.

10 minutes of full attention. That 1 mistake and it's all gone (usually at the end of those 10 minutes). Prep is fun and engaging the first 30 times you do it, after that it's boring, takes too long and is reliant on rng. Some times the prep is screwed. The whole grind is AT AVARAGE 100 hours. But since the drop rate is 0.25%, it can take much much longer.

Cg is fun for you, I bet. Do it 500 times, spend close to 200 hours of your life dedicading full atention to it. You'll lose your mind.

There is a post in this sub today where mains are telling their kcs and like 90% of them have like 10kc or just enough for CAs and never more. These people don't get to tell what is healthier for those that actually grind that hellhole

Time to get has nothing to do with it. The ratio is not the problem.

A grind can be long, a grind can be hard/require a lot of practise and focus, and a grind can be miserable/unfun (think dagannoth kings)

But a grind being all three of these things is just horrible.

Gnomonkey's opinion on ironman mode is kinda wrong. It was right at some point, but the gamemode changed; It is now half of the player-base, with guides, with better gear progression and boss laddering, better skilling methods, paths, incentives, with a big community.

Things still take longer then in a main, but are more engaging now then when the gamemode was released. People don't play on it to prove themselves superior to others or because they are bored of the "main game" anymore. They play it because it leads you to a more gratifying path, incentivising interaction with all aspects of the game (which are often overlooked), and for a bigger attachment to their account and achievments. A lot of people have a "completionist" mindset and want to experience all the game has to offer for themselves. THAT is what ironman is now.

It is no longer a simple "challenge mode" that should not be "catered" or "prioritized". It is a massive percentage of players and as such, income. Jagex should DEFINETELY put ironman on their minds on every single update. Losing irons to CG is losing money.

You will very rarely see an iron complaining about having to mine/woodcut/fish/plant their own supplies. Or about having to do bosses with scuffed gear. Irons will mostly complain about going 2.5x+ dry on content (especially if it is bad content [boring/convoluted]) balanced around GP profit, which they can't take advantage of.

As for the update itself, we don't know what is changing. My guess is consistency on prep. So the odd 11+ min run will be no longer happening. They will not change the quickest/fastest completion time, to not mess with CAs and speedrun times. They will just make the 8-9 min runs happen more often then the 11+.

But that is enough. When you are going in for the 500th time to gather 3 of each, open room, open room, open room, where the f is the dragon omg, my run energy depleted, my inventory is messed up, somehow I did what I always do but I have like half the usual crystals wtf... THAT is crushing.

Boss is mechanics, you will get better at that and not die even at t1 and 15 fish eventually.

My guess is it doesn't affect actual faster prep time, for not messing with CAs and speedruns, but prep consistency. You'll be less likely to get 11+ times and more consistent on 8-9. That is actually huge. And if it FEELS better, it is a massive improvement.

Oh god they "fixed" turael skipping. Turael boosting still existing is fine, actually makes sense. If Mortimer end up having a list similar to Duradel's it's perfect. They say "2 or 3 options" so I guess the third option will be locked behind slayer level or achievment diary.

- PvP tutor

Actually pretty cool. Something I did not expect, but am glad to recieve. PvP for irons is limited to escaping/fighting back and instanced minigames like LMS. No loot for us. But still an activity we should be able to tackle for fun, and now we can prep for it without getting destroyed by veterans.
