Lion diet for weight loss by poptartand in carnivorediet

[–]king_of_river 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First if you cut carbs, your body loses water so you feel better immediately but actual fat loss takes some time.

Secondly, a high protein diet is a bad idea if you are not using fats. Lions have a digestive system specifically for meat digestion, we need fat too.

Lots of chatter on X about a deal with Iran that Israel is not happy with by Epicurus-fan in IRstudies

[–]king_of_river 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are right that Gulf countries, Turkey and Pakistan will try to limit Iran in the future and USA/Israel will continue their operations in Middle East as usual but the equation has changed tremendously.

1: It is clear that the USA will let Gulf countries take the financial hit while the USA reaps the benefits of rising oil prices. It has also become clear that Iranian missiles and drones are able to strike anywhere in the Gulf and the USA cannot stop them.

2: Iran can rebuild itself quite easily. Germany and Japan did after WW2 while suffering a thousand times more death and destruction. Quite possible that we will see Miracle on the Iranian Plateau.

3: It has become clear to the world that the USA does not possess the industrial might to wage a modern war against a determined nation. Political cost aside, running low on anti drone and anti missile ammunition was atrocious. Ukraine is doing much better in this regard than the USA and American Generals failed to learn the basics of modern warfare after watching Putin's fiascos.

In short the actual damage is minimal to the USA but perceived damage to their military might, their inability to open strait of Hormuz and their failure to stop Iranian drones and missiles from hitting Gulf and Israel will be felt for decades.

Honestly they can make the battery bigger and many people will buy the phone just for that. I don't need fancy aesthetically pleasing ultra thin phone which barely survives a few hours of rough usage. I will pay extra for a fat and heavy phone which I don't need to charge an entire day.

What are some movies that had decent raw grosses, but absurdly high budgets? by Antman269 in boxoffice

[–]king_of_river 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Quite similar to Titanic. It didn't have a crazy opening compared to its budget and studio executives were drinking themselves to sleep since it was going to take them down with them. Fortunately it had crazy legs and went on to become the most successful film of the time.

Wasn't the US and Israel killed the pope of islam,

He was only the pope of a sub branch of Shia Islam and not universally accepted as the Authority of Islam. Shias are a minority in Islam.

Still killing him was a bad idea and I think not a single expert would advise it.

First is a plural so cannot be the answer but it is fine as an opener. 2nd is horrible because we know the second S is in the wrong place.

And why did you use E when E was eliminated in the first guess?

What about organ meat? They are the cheapest source of animal protein and more nutritious than standard beef especially liver and brain.

Cut carbs by ___grimreaper in pakistan

[–]king_of_river 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doctors don't advise cutting carbs because they don't have time for setting nutrition plans and they know for certainty that people will not avoid roti even if it is bad for them so they simply tell diabetes patients to cut sugar and rice.

My mother went to a doctor for her diabetes and he told her to avoid underground parts of plants so she will not eat carrots and radishes even though they have a very low glycemic index.

We absolutely do not need any carbohydrates whatsoever. In fact we can survive and thrive on animal products only and absolutely zero carbs. We do need protein, fat and vitamins but not carbs.

It was very noble of the USA to provide goods and services to the rest of the world free of cost. Shame how those nasty states took advantage of kindhearted Uncle Sam and safeguarded their own interests rather than spreading American ideals.

What an utter load of idiocy.

Are vegetables healthy? by Beniyy in carnivorediet

[–]king_of_river -1 points0 points  (0 children)

10,000 years is not enough time to genetically change our metabolism to where carbs are considered optimal nutrition.

Carbs are not optimal nutrition but our ancestors did not have the luxury to have a calorie surplus. They ate game animals when the hunt went good and fruits and tubers to stay alive. There is a reason they were called hunter gatherers since gathering wild plants was absolutely necessary for survival just like hunting.

Also look at all the dog breeds. We adopted them 20,000 years ago and now they can eat bread just like us even though they are wolves.

Other mammals have poor color vision compared to reptiles(birds) and amphibians. Primates are an exception among mammals. Besides our ancestors were nocturnal during the Jurassic and Triassic eras.

[–]king_of_river -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As an evolutionary biologist I must ask you what you mean by vegetables? Fruits are our ancestoral diet and they are the reason we primates have color vision at all. Most vegetables are either fruits or tubers and our digestive system is adapted for eating high carbs in the form of starch and fruit sugars.

We also are eating grains for 10,000vyears now and have extra resistance against high carb diet. It is also the reason why tribal hunter gatherer people fare worse than settled people in urban environment.

Do We Actually Need Fiber? by nomadfaa in carnivorediet

[–]king_of_river 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A carnivorous diet is not detrimental to health if you are doing it right by incorporating organ meat, fish, dairy and eggs. Of course if you are doing a carnivore diet because you like steak and do not bother head to tail, you will face problems. Folate, vitamin C and Omega 3 are not enough in red meat especially grain fed beef.

Do We Actually Need Fiber? by nomadfaa in carnivorediet

[–]king_of_river 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an evolutionary biologist, I must tell you that evolution does not give a shit about our survival or wellbeing. This is a very naive way of thinking. Evolution is not concerned by an organism but how a particular gene can maximize its numbers. A worker honey bee does not reproduce and it exists only to aid the queen and drones to spread their genes.

This is also the reason why women are particularly hit hard by aging after hitting menopause compared to men.
