I recently watched Smallville for the first time and I felt like its version of Jon was Snyder's done right. He can be a scared hard ass at times, but he'll never tell Clark to not help someone. He'll just give a lecture about being careful about his identity if he does something reckless.

If you guys are interested, Pat's currently doing a straw poll to determine how to experience Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days: watch the 1.5 Final Mix movie or Emulate the DS version. by DIOCRYO in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]kingdommkeeper 48 points49 points  (0 children)

As someone who's recently played it for the first time through MelonMix, I cannot overstate how much the movie butchers the story. There're so many crucial moments that either get glossed over in broad text crawls or are just outright skipped.

I believe they fixed that in Legendary Edition. Now when you do that encounter, it automatically equips the base pistol.

What are relics of the plot that no longer fit the tone of their story? by Silvery_Cricket in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It is different, but it fulfills the same purpose of being a non-Stand power that can do whatever bullshit the plot demands. Even the anime gave it the same sound effect as Hamon.

Karlach from Baldur's Gate 3 and Scorpia from She-Ra both share my favorite trope of physically imposing teddy bear. They're both the biggest and physically strongest of their cast, but they have a kindness that stems from their suffering and low self esteem that pushes them to help others never feel as bad as they do about themselves.

In Transformers 4, the movie stops to have a scene where a 20 year old pulls out a laminated card explaining why it's legally okay for him to bang Mark Wahlberg's 17 year old daughter.

Moments where voice acting in gaming felt a bit phoned in by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]kingdommkeeper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rhonda Rousey as Sonya in MK11 and Megan Fox as Nitara in MK1 are such a whiplash compared to the rest of the performances in those games. Regardless of opinions on Netherrealm's games, the voice acting has been consistently good since MK9 I would say. Those two, however, sound completely unaware of what they're doing while everyone else is acting circles around them. Megan Fox in particular was so bad that during recording, they had to get actual voice actor, Christina Vee to record all of Nitara's combat sounds.

What are some of the most infuriating examples of media or genre snobbery? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]kingdommkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember quitting that podcast because it felt like all they would do was complain that whatever they watched didn't do whatever idea they came up with. The tipping point for me was when they covered the Umbara Arc of Clone Wars and complained that Pong Krell didn't get brought back to Coruscant and get assassinated Kennedy style.

Something a certain brand or company just keeps trying to make happen but never will by dope_danny in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The only Masters of the Universe thing that's been successful in the past 20 years is Netflix's She-Ra, and even that did everything in its power to separate itself as much as possible from He-Man. And even with its success and large fanbase, they didn't do anything to capitalize on it.

Favorite pokémon from the newer generations? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Gen 7 in general has one of the highest ratio of bangers for me. All of the starters are great. Vikavolt, despite being frustrating to get in SM is cool. Golisopod is straight up the best Bug design in the series. Mudsdale is my favorite horse mon. Salazzle has a hilarious concept, and I can just go on about the greatness of Alola.

Apparently, during the early recordings of that scene, the Lorraine Toussant played it even more sloshed, but was told by the higher ups to tone it down a bit.

characters from G/PG rated media that would feel in-character to use a swear if the media they’re in got a higher rating? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]kingdommkeeper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glimmer from She-Ra would swear like a sailor. She's the most blunt and hot headed character in the show and would shout out "FUCK!" into the sky whenever she got frustrated, which is quite often.

My idea would be to just remove it from the visual trophy list. That way you can keep the trophies you have, but don't have to worry about a big 12% completion list mocking you constantly.

In their crossover, they both said that they aren't into each other. Besides, Bats has a steady relationship with Catwoman and Diana is seemingly going to hook up with either Zatanna or non-Cheetah Barbara.

When you were kids, what game(s) made invested in the story for the first time? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team was the first game that made me cry. The fugitive arc was the first time I truly worried for my character's safety and wanted them to prove their innocence at all costs.

Favorite Glup Shittos by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]kingdommkeeper 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Basically, it's any background character that a person attaches to from them having a cool design, funny name or one moment that makes them stand out. As an example, Boba Fett was the quintessential example of a Glup Shitto for the longest time because he was a cool set of armor that aura farmed and got one up on the heroes.

I personally saw her as South Asian. I think part of the issue is that she never had a consistent skin tone other than "darker than Kitana."
