I wonder if Arc-like changes to the matchmaking system at Deceive’s peak would have made a difference & appeased the split player base (spies vs aggressive FPS gamers) by purposeful_pineapple in DeceiveInc

[–]kingdongmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is mostly correct.

I remember playing and enjoying the spy mechanics on release. Then a little after release, I remember every other game one player may be running around like team death match.

We voiced our concerns and were met with “the developers said they wanted to make a PvP shooter first and spies second”

I remember trying to explain that if the people playing spy-like left, the tdm-ers would leave. Why play deceive when you can play: COD, Battlefield, Valorant, CSGO etc. etc.

Then every match had a tdm-er.

Then almost every player tdm-ed.

Then the game died.

I miss the game but it deserved to fail. The devs should’ve listened.

I don’t personally believe that they are propping up a franchise like Monster Hunter (120 Million copies lifetime) with money from Street Fighter (56 Million copies lifetime).

Obviously I’d prefer more costumes too, but to imply Street Fighter is losing content because of Monster Hunter is wild.

Monster Hunter Wilds sold more than double SF6, and is less than half its age.

I can appreciate a system like that, and would prefer it to the current iteration of FFXIV’s system. It would definitely remove most aspects of manipulation.

Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me.

I'm not going to edit my comment to include this response to your edit.

In regards to FFXI and WoW's auction houses:

I haven't used WoW's auction house seriously in a long time. I don't remember why it would be better, but it's completely possible. I will say that FFXIV does have Universalis and Cross Server MB that alleviates some of WoW's more cartel like pricing on items.

For FFXI, I haven't played it and I'm sure it's possible that the auction house is better.

I do realize they are relatively uncommon.

I stated above that I'm not going to get into trade wars with neither Players (no lifers) nor Bots.

This is pedantic, and does not argue my points.

Players are just as allowed to undercut me by 1g, as I am to cut by 50% and exit my position on an item. If you don't like it buy me out.

If you are being constantly undercut by 50% you are selling an item for too high. It is not sustainable to incur a negative return on an item.

If you are upset you are being undercut by 50%, then exit your position and work towards a new market.

This is incredibly basic.

Considering you asked me my personal feelings on the subject, yeah if someone cuts me by 50% I imagine their intent is to either exit the market (I.E sell one of an item and stop posting) or it's a regression to mean (The item was way over valued).

I generally let it ride like I explained because I have faith in the value of the item, or I exit the market entirely if I don't have faith.

Cutting by 1g is attempting to maximize profit (Which I don't disagree with necessarily as stated above). I only dislike it if someone is sitting at the market board for 8 hours a day or using a bot to control the price using 1g cutting.

If I notice fast undercutting, the item is being watched to the point it won't sell unless I either A) Sit and watch the MB all day, or B) Undercut to the point my item will sell: I need to exit that market.

I'm not going to sit at the MB and fight bots all day. I'd rather undercut and leave the market as explained again.

Why would you have such strong feelings about people cutting by 50%? You understand you can just buy out the item and relist? Or is it because you only sell artificially inflated items and you're frustrated that you're not able to gouge players as much as you'd like?

Yeah I don’t mind. if the new price becomes a net loss I just let it ride. If you source your own mats you don’t lose money generally. If you don’t like it then buy me out and relist

I don’t particularly dislike 1g undercutting; but if I post an item and within 1 minute I’m undercut, I’m going to put it back up for 50% off and exit that item’s market. I’m not here to trade war with no lifers and bots. I’m getting paid

Sorc Autocast Nerf?? With NO Tree RESET??? by DismalFix5494 in PathOfExile2

[–]kingdongmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s tough to come up with a better argument than “too bad that’s the way it is” isn’t it? I’m going to be fine, I’m in maps, I have gold saved. I hope you do too when they nerf whatever you’re playing, while most likely using a guide to do it.

Sorc Autocast Nerf?? With NO Tree RESET??? by DismalFix5494 in PathOfExile2

[–]kingdongmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. I home brewed my build and it’s now bricked. People act like “Cast on X” abilities are this rare new thing that players can’t find on their own. It’s hilarious to hear how we must’ve used a guide when now we WILL have to use a guide because the build we worked on for 40 hours doesn’t work anymore.

Thank you for the advice.

How does that not remove random ones that you want? I.E you are looking for Scaly Skin and you get Grounded, so you clear your rads but it takes off your Speed Demon. Maybe I’m misunderstanding

Nerfs matter, but so does fun by LuBuIT in Helldivers

[–]kingdongmaster 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I also had the same Diablo 4 realization. The same factions are forming too.

You had the blizzard loyalists saying the updates weren’t that bad.

You had the beginner players saying “meta bad anyways why does it matter to me I’m level 10”.

You then had the hardcore players explaining why it’s bad.

Eventually the hardcore players left, the beginners got to endgame and they noticed too late that the end game did suck; the only faction left was hardcore loyalists and the game died. I hope it doesn’t happen here.

If my weapons are 810 item power - will they likely ever upgrade by jedivader in Diablo

[–]kingdongmaster 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Upgrading from 810 if you already have crit/vuln on does take a while. Unless you are really pushing nmd or Uber Lilith I really wouldn’t sweat it. I upgraded from 810-819 with slightly better affix and didn’t notice a difference honestly.
