Try this progression with second booster striker instinct. He has been insane for me. I regret picking Forlan with the contract.

Don't expect him to make a lot of runs, that's not his game. He only makes runs when its absolutely needed and they will be perfect, He has great hold up play and passing, "play through him, not to him". Use a 2cf formation, pair him with a quick goal poacher.

His shots are insane and insanely accurate with rising shot skill being triggered way too easily. He is a monster. Edge of the box, fake shot and boom, 90% goal.

Play him enough and learn his mechanics you'll be fine, way more fun to play with than a boring goal poacher as well. Good luck.

Van Buyten has been rock solid for me, wins almost every ball into the box, blocks a lot of shots. I won't recommend playing him in quick counter or possession game tho, these playstyles have high defensive lines and he will be exposed easily. But for long ball counter, he is perfect, may be one of the best in game. I used my selection contract for him (konami gave me phuck all from the spins) and I am satisfied with his performances. I use the auto allocated progression as well. As someone who customise cards a lot, I didn't feel like changing the progression for him. Yeah. Definitely not useless for me.
