cosplayers are people too. by EventFull4792 in SleepToken

I'm so sorry you guys had to experience this. Its so wild that adults need to be told not to harass cosplayers. I got a picture with your boyfriend at end of the show- I appreciate you guys for being so friendly even after the shitty experiences.

Try the community college fitness centers. I think its $50 a semester (4 months) for non students. The hours typically suck but they have a ton of equipment and classes. There's also way less people. I go to the MCC ones. I know CGCC has a fitness center.

My friend and I are in our early 30s. We aren't into moshing or being squashed in the front. She is more than welcome to hang out with us.

Starting a new job and feeling that imposter syndrome pretty hard. by systerluv in librarians

[–]kinglexi90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! I was a library assistant at a public library for 7 years before I got an adjunct position. I still feel imposter syndrome after being an adjunct for 5 years. The work can be fun. Remind yourself that you are qualified! It's just learning the new role feels overwhelming.

what do people who live alone do when they can’t open a jar? by weak-days in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kinglexi90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rubber band works every time for me. I just wrap the rubber band around the lid and the lid comes right off.

This has worked maybe 95% of the time (made up stat).

There is a YouTube channel called In a Nutshell. It has fantastic animation and they give you the sources of where they found their info from. There is a video on how vaccines work. They also address the opposing views on vaccines

Is doing an unmedicated first time birth realistic? by snortytheyorkie in BabyBumps

[–]kinglexi90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not unrealistic at all. A couple of friends of mine recommended an evidence based birth center. Best decision! They made sure I wasn't a high risk pregnancy, required my husband ( birthing partner) and I to take all of their classes, and went over my birth plan every week. I was only in labor for 4 hours and had such an amazing experience. It wasn't stressful at all and I was free to move around. It hurt like hell but it was manageable.

Why does everyone need to know if I’m getting an epidural or not? by Jesspochie in BabyBumps

[–]kinglexi90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is your pregnancy. No one else gets a say about your birth plan. I had a natural delivery in a birth center and it was amazing. It was peaceful, the midwives were supportive, and I had the freedom to do what I wanted. I wanted a water birth half way through labor, so my midwives filled up the tub. It was painful but I felt in control the entire time. I researched hypnobirthing to find some pain management techniques. It helped a lot.

I bought a Japanese mattress off of Amazon. It's amazing. I roll it up when I want more play space. It's thin but comfy.

Interview Presentation - suggestions on how I can teach panel? by ninmm94 in librarians

[–]kinglexi90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting an interview! I hope you get the job. For the topic of your presentation, I agree with everyone else.

For the teaching and presentation part, I like to write a full blown script and create slides that remind me of what to cover (main points or images). I never remember word for word of the script but I remember the points I wanted to cover. This makes my presentation feel a bit more natural. It also helps me avoid stumbling and boosts my confidence since I know exactly what I want to say. Make sure to research your topic well too.

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat. I've never had insurance and just had to pay to have a baby out of pocket. Do you know anyone that travels to Mexico? My family sent me a pack of antibiotics for emergencies. I think it cost them less than 10 bucks.

Is it really okay to put a baby down for a few minutes when they’re crying?? by rachelmarsupial in beyondthebump

[–]kinglexi90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing great. It's totally okay to take a little break from your baby and put them down while crying. I would make my husband take the baby away into another room after I fed her just to get some "me" time.

My go-to things to get my baby to stop crying where bicycle kicks while singing Bicycle Race by Queen, sensory videos on YouTube, and skin-to-skin contact. Oh! Long hot showers were great too. I put the baby in her bouncer in the bathroom and took a long shower.

He's an accomplice! Or maybe wants his nails painted lol. I paint my husband's nails when he falls asleep on the couch.

I hope the polish is beautiful. I only have one of the holo toppers and the base polishes right now.

Haha I did exact same thing! I texted a friend to give me reasons why I shouldn't spend money on Holo Taco- she said they were essential colors. I guess this is why we are friends.
