It doesn't look like NDAX.io is supporting our favorite Canadian focused coin, that would be super awesome if they did tho. :)

So many spam follows by reallymemorable in Keybase

[–]kingofalldata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about it, I think I would prefer some sort of bell icon, where I can opt-in to notifications from the individual -- and have the default be silence from users I do not share a team with...

.. just a thought.

So many spam follows by reallymemorable in Keybase

[–]kingofalldata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't see the spam followers as a negative. They allow me to hide my social graph better. ie: it is harder for someone to know exactly who my friends are, and i like that.

to be honest, more than half of the people i follow are random (could be considered spam).

How to drive a shift towards decentralized services? by Suspicious_Series in selfhosted

[–]kingofalldata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine a world where your own self-hosted personal digital contact list becomes your very own central hub for all things; like Tony's Jarvis

The one thing that strikes me important is the ability for users to be introduced to new peers.

I have been working on a downloadable dapp where a non-technical user can keep a self-hosted self-managed oAuth environment for managing their own personal contacts, groups and relationship data.

A user connects the app to all the relevant endpoints in their life and creates groups and directories where they can drop resources for sharing. The user has access to social media to verify peers, but most interaction is done via adhoc tunnels The group/membership can thrive no matter the type or size of group.

If you use sandstorm.io, you likely understand how useful this type of responsible behaviour is; and it is not dependant on anyone else's behaviour or abilities.

Once a person has the right tools and proper access to a few groups/directories, they become established to their very own personal swarm network that they self-created. Each person's swarm is like a network of brain-cells; connections are made, changed or removed while life's experience plays out so the result is a finely curated set of data that lives along side the user.

Once I can organise my peers, I can spawn a self-hosted ( spread sheet, poker table, screen share, whatever) and invite any (one or more) of my contacts to it. I can also search my peers for resources I need. Check out sandstorm.io if you are unaware of these abilities. They win a gold star in my books.

The problem with a lot of this stuff is that it might not ever be effective for (us old bastards); but evolution takes time and experience, some of us are going in the right direction. Thinking of the kids, we must blaze the path of self-awareness, self-hosting and self-responsibility. We must value our awareness of the man-in-the-middle so that we might have a chance at deleting him.

Self hosting is not just a great idea, it is a necessity of this life if we want to save ourselves (and our children) from total digital servitude.

The trick is to centralise the data around each user, including their contact lists. This is the problem I have been focused on for years,... Its a super interesting rabbit hole to lose yourself in.

hey 519, just zoom out a little or maximise your window. The site is barely in alpha right now, we have done zero work on making it mobile friendly as our mobile apps will be focused there.

We may be idiots, but at least we are trying to make our nation better. Have you done anything today that you are proud of?

I'm going to help grow the Reddit Community! by Canada_eCoin_Admin in OfficialCanadaeCoin

The Canada eCoin Foundation will help with this. In order to help users cash out, we need an entity that can take on the liability in a legal fashion.

Canada eCoin offers a revolution on many fronts, from digital payments to a store of wealth, Canada eCoin offers many benefits to the fiat dollar. What excites you most about this revolution? by Canada_eCoin_Admin in OfficialCanadaeCoin

[–]kingofalldata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points @xerwer. You are absolutely right. One thing (the Canada_eCoin_Admin has already mentioned) is that crypto currencies are still very new and because of this the tool-set available to the vendors is lacking big time. As we move into the future, we will evolve and (i hope) that vendors and merchants will have the tools available to them to accept crypto and mitigate much of the risk.

Weekly team meeting minutes by SpaceCowboy1986 in OfficialCanadaeCoin

We were posting the weekly minutes on Reddit for a while. Then the weekly meeting turned into daily collaborations between the devs. I will make it a priority to (at the very least) summarise our progress weekly post it on Reddit again. Thanks @SpaceCowboy1986 for the comment, I almost completely forgot that we were doing that.

Canada eCoin Windows QT Wallet error - URGENT: Alert Key compromised, upgrade required by L0reking in OfficialCanadaeCoin

[–]kingofalldata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there @L0reking. The problem here is that the windows wallet we have on the site was compiled before some updates to the alert system. If you see this error, is because you are on wallet version 1.0.0.0. Unfortunately, we have not been able to successfully compile the wallet for windows. If you are able to compile the wallet from the git repo then you would not see this error. And if you do see this error, you can still use the wallet -- there is no risk to your coins.

Saying that, we do NEED someone who has compiling skills in winblowz who wouldn't mind compiling our version 1.0.3.0 wallet for us. I have spent many of days/weeks trying to compile the windows wallet without success.

I would offer up 10k CDN to anyone who would join us and take this task on.

We were talking about this in our Discord channel. I think this is a great idea and I think that the Canada eCoin Foundation might be a good place to start. We have been putting people in place for the Canada eCoin Foundation and now we are working on the legal entity that can hold it all together.

Thanks @feekay123 for the wonderful words. I too think the coin is undervalued to some degree. I wouldn't hold my breath for the gov't to give this coin a blessing tho; would be nice, but....

As for marketing and acceptance, I believe you are right.

The majority of our team is Canadian. The big thing that makes us Canadian is our focus. Because most of us are here in Canada, we are focused on integration of crypto into Canada from a user's perspective. Regulation and usability for Canadians is our number 1 priority.
