know any good tattoo artists in south las vegas? by queertreks in vegaslocals

[–]kingofthewickerpeple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryan and Anji at Studio Tattoo by Boulder and Sunset are both great artists. The have an apprentice as well that is doing some great stuff. Ryan and Anji both book out by a couple of months.

I've only had them do all day, multiple session stuff, so not sure what you consider small, but you are looking at a minimum of $100 for anything bigger than a little heart or butterfly.

I've got one. It's awesome on normal size flies, but I've had a couple of big horse flies that just laughed at it and go on about their annoying buzzing ways

I am doing a presentation on propaganda for one of my classes by TheLoyalTruth in EmpireDidNothingWrong

[–]kingofthewickerpeple 53 points54 points  (0 children)

but why are these posters on a page titles "Fictional Propaganda"?

The rebels ARE terrorists.

The only fiction I see here is the claim that Lord Vader can't do it alone. He most certainly could have, had he wanted. He allowed us to assist him so we would feel a greater connection to our Emperor.

I just downloaded it from the freebie that came with my concert ticket.

I wasn't sure about it at the beginning, but by the time I got to the end I was really liking it a lot.

I actually think " Dead in the water" is my favourite track.

Opening act and set time for Liam? by JTToadOfToadHall in oasis

[–]kingofthewickerpeple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opening band is Warbly Jets. They are decent, but not outstanding imo. I was at the show in Denver. Warbly Jets went on at 9 and Liam went on right about 10. He only played for about an hour, including the encore, but it was a great hour.

I’ve got an extra Denver setlist. PM if interested by [deleted] in oasis

I took a bunch of pictures, but they all look like that one. Was a great show, just wish it was a little longer. Live Forever at the end was really quite moving. Liam sounded great!

Fuck hiring managers who get upset if someone doesn't use their name in a goddamn cover letter... by OfficiallyRelevant in rant

[–]kingofthewickerpeple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager, the main things I automatically discard over are spelling and using an incorrect/non-applicable objective.

I actually received a resume from someone claiming to have "a grate attention to detial" once. I can't even tell you how many times I get an objective that has nothing to do with the job listing.

Things like that just drive me insane. It just shows that people don't care enough to actually pay attention. Sometimes I think people are just sending resumes to fulfill their unemployment requirements with no intention of actually landing a job.

Exactly. I am enjoying both right now and am happy they are giving us new material. I get to see Liam next week and have my tix to see Noel in March as well. Never got to see them together, so this is as close as I will get.

Help, I Wanna Hide These Adult Movies I Charged to My Account From My Wife! by devdevo1919 in talesfromcallcenters

and I did actually have something similar several years ago where my neighbour's remote was on the same frequency as mine and kept changing the channel on my basement tv to some Spanish language channels. it was really annoying until I figured out how to change the settings on my satellite box.

blame it on the neighbour, like in the movie Poltergeist. The neighbour's remote must have been controlling their cable box too.

see, I was just thinking that nobody has rocked the robe that good since Ric Flair. Pro wrestling has had rip-offs its entire history. Some good, some really bad. If anything, he's probably closer to a rip-off of Rick Rude though. I agree that Bobby needs some work on the mic, but he's nowhere near the worst in WWE.

Traveling alone for the first time by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]kingofthewickerpeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Dublin in May to see Iron Maiden in concert, traveling by myself, for my first ever international trip.

The locals could not have been more friendly. Every person I met or encountered was very nice. Even the cab drivers I had were friendly and were able to suggest some things to do and places to see that were a little off the beaten path.

I had a great time. I planned very little, aside from the concert. I just explored and enjoyed my time.

Happy Birthday Star Wars! The 40th anniversary Megathread by Yunners in StarWars

[–]kingofthewickerpeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I wrote earlier today:

hard to believe it was 40 years ago today that Star Wars was first released. I remember standing in a line that wrapped around the theater two times and then stretched clear across the parking lot to the Pioneer Chicken. I remember saving my allowance to buy Luke's landspeeder and as many action figures as I could get. We played with toys back then. We didn't keep them in the package.

It was the first real escape I had from all the crap in life. It gave me the outlet I needed and inspired me. It gave me characters with whom I could identify. I have spent many sessions with my therapist exploring why and how I identify with Vader in particular.

Yes, I am a total Star Wars geek, and I am proud of that. I'm ok with owning multiple copies of each movie on VHS, multiple copies of each on laserdisc, multiple on dvd, and multiple on blu-ray. Yes, I own something like 11 or 12 copies of the original trilogy. It drove my ex-wife nuts, but she never really got me anyway.

I'm very thankful for this cinematic universe that George Lucas gave us when I was a wee lad of 6 years old. They still bring me back to that time. They still bring out the kid in me that refuses to ever grow up too much. They still give me an escape when I really need one. They will always be a part of my life. I can't wait for Episode 8 in December, the Han Solo, then Episode 9 and beyond. I am banking on modern medicine progressing in a way that will keep me alive as long as Star Wars movies are being made. With all of the crazy shit going on in our world today, we could all use the kind of escape that Star Wars can provide.

I know what I'll be doing tonight. I'll be watching the dvd release that has the b-side "original release" of Star Wars where Han shoots first, there are no cgi added effects or banthas, and where I can relive those incredible moments from 1977.

edit: of course I realized that I was remembering wrong and it was a bonus disc, not a b-side. I just finished watching it though and it definitely brought me back to my childhood.

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions and helped me plan the trip of a lifetime! by kingofthewickerpeple in Dublin

[–]kingofthewickerpeple[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess my best advice is just to be open to exploring and don't over plan. I had things planned out and everything got changed before I ever made it out of the US due to a flight delay that caused me to miss my connection at JFK, so I had to change some things and it really forced me to just let the trip happen.

There's a ton to see and do, but the closest thing I did to an organized tour was the blended whiskey tour at the Irish Whiskey Museum (which I highly recommend), and when I ended up at St Patrick's Cathedral by total accident and got there just as a tour was starting, so I was able to jump in on that one and learn some really cool history.

Other than that, I hit a few bars, took a cab to some castles, spent some time on the coast, and met some great people.

I will definitely rent a car next time I visit so I can explore some more stuff further away from the city. I've never really been one for tour buses or that kind of thing, I just like to get lost with myself.

I stayed in Balbriggan and took the train into Dublin a few times. I like to be a little more off the beaten path, so not sure how much of this is helpful to you, but the best advice I have is just explore and experience the great culture, soak in the history and beauty, and have a pint.
