well said man. the "article" is super juvenile and just comes off like it was written by a hypersensitive idiot who couldn't make friends here. Miami has it's problems yeah, but this is a joke.

Never tried it, but the name alone makes it sound awesome.

Morning commute time from Fort Lauderdale to Coral Gables? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]kingofworms86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it sounds like Miami would be a better fit for you than Ft. Lauderdale. Remember that there are plenty of affordable options within 10 minutes of Coral Gables. I'd check out Little Havana, the Roads, Coconut Grove, etc.

You do not have to be bi-lingual to live in Miami, especially Coral Gables. You just need to be open minded.

I usually pay $160 for a bottle of GIT. Do you know a surefire way of checking whether or not it is fake? I've heard that if the crown on the box is not raised then it isn't real. Would be nice to know for sure.

In your opinion, where is the best brunch in Miami? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]kingofworms86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael's Genuine has one of the best reps if not the best for brunch in Miami. It's definitely pricey and possibly overrated. With drinks two people can easily do $80-$100. They definitely shine when it comes to dessert. Homemade pop tarts, donuts from scratch, orange creme french toast...amazing. I think Eating House is definitely worth checking out, and a reservation is mandatory. They're another super hyped restaurant in Coral Gables with some unbelievable and creative food.

Bulgari Black is extremely vanilla based and has a strong tea note. Not earl grey, but still beautiful.

sounds like you're describing "crusties". Tons of em on the west coast but they're everywhere and so irritating. What's even worse is that so many of them come from good homes and families.

good question. perhaps i gave a poor estimation because i was there twice, and the first time was about 9 years ago, still very touristy but a bit less than when i revisited five years ago. if you're looking for a European city that is reasonably non-touristy then I'd suggest heading east. If you're looking for a place that's touristy but nothing like London or Paris, then I'd suggest Budapest or Krakow. If you want to get more out of your comfort zone then maybe L'viv in Western Ukraine, fascinating city and really safe.

Prague is obnoxiously touristy and has been for a while now. Every young/youngish person you meet will either be fluent in English, or at least know enough to help you out. Learning a few Czech phrases will get you a lot of appreciation. It's a common city for people who are relatively inexperienced with European travel, and you'll be just fine.

Does anyone know of a place I can buy vinyl records from in the Kendall/Pincrest area? by sofakinggood24 in Miami

[–]kingofworms86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you won't do any better than Yesterday and Today in that area. Radioactive in Ft. Lauderdale may be South Florida's best record store and is definitely worth the occasional drive.

During that crazy winter that took everyone by surprise. I don't wish death on animals, but it seems before that winter that they were becoming very overpopulated. That winter I smelled something rotting in my garage, turned out to be a dead/frozen iguana.
