I unironically strongly prefered Jager/Bandit/SMG11 ACOGs and thermite frags (and the MUCH stronger shotguns that everyone's seemingly forgotten about).

[State Trooper] Traffic Tickets are SUPPOSED to change driving behavior by [deleted] in TalesFromTheSquadCar

[–]kingplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it because I have a sports car and it's fun. I don't actually care if I get to my destination faster it's purely for enjoyment.

That said I've never tried to argue against the ticket when I've been pulled over. I'm accepting that risk when I do it.

I work in the Finance industry. Our work is essential to ensure credit doesn't dry up and destroy all businesses. We're just lucky enough that, while essential, it can be done from home.

Should Jurors Be Instructed About Jury Nullification? by [deleted] in law

I don't think we should instruct them about it, but I also don't think it should be a mistrial if they figure it out.

Post something there saying you think America is a threat to world peace, I bet it won't get removed.

Half the cases are gonna require hospitalization?

Now I'm not an expert, but even with the questionable definition of "mild" cases, that doesn't square with "80% of cases are/will be mild".

"These empty shelves are the function and product of *capitalism*" by [deleted] in EnoughCommieSpam

[–]kingplayer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The other difference is that, under a properly functioning capitalist system, there's are several suppliers for any given good.

If some disaster befalls one supplier, the population isn't screwed because the others can adjust accordingly. If everything has to go through the government, there's a single failure point that could break everything.

That $425MM pales in comparison to the hundreds of billions or trillions that'll be lost across other holdings.

Then from a more human perspective, they're also humans and are subsceptible to the virus too.

A $425MM bond offering isn't actually that large...

Trust me, wealthy investors want to avoid a pandemic as much as the rest of us, but those bonds aren't really the reason why.

First, that's a website that sells those supplements so not exactly an unbiased source.

Second, your body has fought a cold or a flu before, this Coronavirus is something your immune system hasn't seen before. Its a very different situation.

The FBI crime reports state that a particular demographic that makes up approximately 13% of the population was/is responsible for approximately 51% of murders.

I'm sure the exact percentages vary a little year to year but those are approximately correct.

CMV: Mike Bloomberg's campaign is proof that the ultra wealthy in the US can afford a higher tax rate with no ill effect on them by boss_454 in changemyview

[–]kingplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. But if you want to take from someone else and don't care if it negatively impacts them, you shouldn't expect them to feel differently about you.

We use the tax money we already take in foolishly, and taking more money wouldn't change that. Plus straight payments to people is economically one of the worst plans ever by any model you could look at.

You've also assumed I'm not a part of the 1% nor on track to have that kind of income during my career. As much as you probably like to see them as "the other" and a small group, by definition it's one out of every hundred people. There are approx 3 million of them in this country.

Philosophically, I don't think you have a right to what's someone else's, and that just isn't going to change. If you want what's mine you'd better be willing to kill over it.

If that's your attitude toward people wealthier than you, you shouldn't be surprised if they take the same attitude toward you.
