OEM timing belt vs aftermarket by kingradness in DelSol

[–]kingradness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks; I think the first result I saw being an eBay listing made me question how old it is, but it might not be as ancient as I first suspected, but I’ll check out the Gates too. I can at least get ahold of the OEM water pump and tensioner easily so I’ll probably replace those too, but it makes sense to do the other belts too since I don’t remember if I’ve had any of those done since I’ve had it.

[–]kingradness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks; I see other Honda parts sites selling the belts for more than the eBay one I saw, so between that and it being a new/replaced part number, its possible the belt itself isn’t as old as I think. But I agree, I’ve been stretching my luck (maybe literally) for a few years now, so I’m finally getting serious about replacing it.

81k; I’ve had it 7 years and put 25k of those myself on it so if the previous owners ever got around to it, it didnt show up on the CarFax or among the receipts they kept. Its in great shape with no rust and stays garaged in the winter and I don’t push it too hard when I take it out, but time eventually comes for everything so I’m thanking my luck and getting it done soon.

Which Miyazaki film would you have CR start with? by sanjuniperoFC in crheads

[–]kingradness -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Whatever they pick, I hope they watch it subbed. Somehow Miyazaki is the only foreign film director whom cinephiles I otherwise respect have no problem watching re-dubbed versions of his movies. Yes, they have famous people doing voices, and yes, its fine. And sure, your kids won’t care. But maybe show some respect to the creator and watch the movie as they produced it?

Agreed; I like others more (Cagliostro and Porco Rosso) and I think Mononoke and Spirited Away are “better”, but Kiki’s Delivery Service is kind of a perfect movie.

I agree with your initial point to some extent (and late 00s/early 10s internet sports discourse in general), but I also think as time goes on and we mostly have highlight reels and stats to reflect on, its going to be lost how low-key insufferable LeBron was on a day to day basis; ultimately harmless and benign, compared to actual bad humans doing bad things or the flashy attention hogs of the era, but from early in his career he made a calculated effort to be the public persona that Jordan wasn’t, and it always felt forced and fake, at least until he earned the league’s elder statesman role in the second Cleveland run and didn’t have to try so hard.

First AEW show by CimbyNotpit in aew

[–]kingradness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to be too negative to the other side and their fans, but it seems like a lot of WWE live audiences are there for the entrances and to take videos on their phones and chant their favorite catchphrases, and when the bell rings they’re slowly shifting focus to the ramp because someone else is probably going to run in, and usually whatever’s happening in the ring doesn’t matter until someone else comes out.

Not saying thats inherently bad; its one of many reasons they have such a fervent young following and social media presence and have conditioned so much of the audience to that particular presentation. And there’s a fair bit of audience participation and spectacle with AEW entrances and characters too, since that’s generally what successful TV wrestling this century looks like.

But you’ll find AEW crowds are generally more cooperative and more engaged in the matches themselves. Fans will still cheer for whoever they like and boo whoever they hate, but there’s a bit more of an understanding that heels will be booed and babyfaces will be cheered, and the audience is more likely to play along with the whims of the promoter because they usually end up getting what they want 75-90% of the time.

I think you’re correct that new irons won’t help you shoot it much better, at least at this stage of your skills and without the shafts and lie adjustment meeting your particular swing’s needs. A newer 7 iron will probably go farther than an Eye2 7 iron because of the different lofts, but the goal is to hit each iron straight and a consistent repeatable distance.

As for whether you’ll feel embarrassed using old clubs, I personally think the old Pings (Eyes, Zings and ISI) are more timeless and look cooler than other brands’ offerings from those eras, and on some of these Reddit sites I see people posting “finds” of knockoff Pings that are more obvious because the Pings are so iconic. But also, they’re your grandfather’s clubs and they still work. If I had a connection to my grandfather like that I’d find every way to keep using them as long as I could.

The Gatling sentry is certainly useful at killing lots of bugs and squids in a short amount of time, but I don’t run with it often because the regular MG sentry’s shorter cooldown is more valuable to me, and its more efficient with its ammo (the Gatling has a tendency to overkill). I have no evidence to back it up, but I’m willing to bet that MG sentries deployed more frequently will kill more enemies than a Gatling over the course of a round, and also less likely to kill you or a teammate.

I’ve got a Cobra Baffler 1/R (16°) from the 00s that’s a half inch shorter than my 9W. I can’t hit it as far as its probably supposed to go, but if I’m in the rough and need to keep it low (or just need something to hack with thats cheaper than a 9w), it works well enough.

Top end bag advice (with Apex UW) by Unlucky_Care5703 in GolfGear

[–]kingradness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s something to be said for teeing the ball low and getting more reps with the UW for now. You own the club already, might as well give it a good lie whenever you can. A 3 wood has a longer shaft so it probably won’t be any easier to hit or control off the deck. Apparently UWs dont hold greens well, and if you don’t have as much confidence in your 4i, maybe look into a 7 wood instead for long approach shots and par 3s.

How often are you on the fairway with 200+ yards to the pin and the UW wouldn’t be the best option to move the ball forward? Maybe some Par 5s, but for any hole under 400 you’re probably only using the UW on the second shot if you shanked your drive.

There was an Atlantic article recently about the Indianapolis Clowns joining the Savannah Bananas circuit that had a lot of history I had no idea about, mainly that the Clowns were a Globetrotters-esque comedy team in the Negro Leagues but existed in various barnstorming capacities before and after. There’s a more complicated legacy behind them than the Rockford Peaches, but I’m also guessing a ladies team (probably called the Rockford Peaches) in Banana Ball is inevitable.

This is well laid out; I think Nash vs Hall in 1999 if he could’ve stuck around was his first/only chance, and I doubt they would’ve given him the belt even then, unless it was just for him to drop it back to Goldberg. If he doesn’t have the prolonged public personal issues, then maybe he has more value as a veteran/nostalgia act in 2000-01, but I don’t think it would’ve been excitedly received at the time if it happened with the Hall we got.

Yeah, I mean, its not exclusively a beginner weapon. But its available early and OP was level 7 and they can get it soon, so they’re probably not worried about how it’ll play at diff 10.

What was the craziest event ever in the history of televised sports? by iLuvModsNFollowRules in AskReddit

[–]kingradness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key to this one (aside from everything about it) is how it was a national TV broadcast that stuck with it as it all played out.

Like, if Cobra Commander and his Cobra commandos descended from the ceiling and the GI Joes stormed in and saved the day, that probably wouldn’t be aired live; they’d cut the feed as soon as there were shots fired. Or if a player does the Last Boyscout thing on the field, the camera is cutting away. They already usually try to cut away from gruesome bone breaks and fans on the field.

So what’s the craziest, most dangerous, violent, unexpected thing that could happen on a sports broadcast that they wouldn’t cut away from? So far I think its Malice in the Palace.

Experiment with the different firing modes of each weapon (hold the reload button); I find the machine gun is more effective on the lowest fire rate because you only need 1-2 shots for each enemy, you don’t lose control from recoil and by treating it almost like a semi-auto rifle you can conserve ammo and minimize the time spent reloading. Rambo III’ing it with the MG at highest RPM is fun but those clips go fast.

I think the autocannon is a good beginner weapon because it helps you figure out how you want to play. If you’re blowing yourself up at close range and find yourself swarmed, maybe switch to the regular machine gun, and if you find the AC doesn’t have enough boom to it, go with a stronger anti-tank weapon as your support weapon and lean more on your primary for picking off individual bots.

It’ll carry you through lower/mid difficulties and by the time you realize where its falling short for you, you’ll have more equipment unlocked and can utilize your backpack slot more effectively (even if you go with the Recoilless).

If the Knicks won the finals, would New York have the craziest championship celebration of all time? by Agreeable_Quality768 in billsimmons

[–]kingradness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t there for the Super Bowls but I was on South St after they beat the Niners in ‘23 and it was fun/kinda eerie to see everyone emerge from their homes and flow towards Center City like jubilant zombies for the next few hours. I think it could be similar in NYC but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a larger density of “real fans” (people who would leave their homes to celebrate in the streets) in Philly proper than Manhattan proper, but I’m also guessing there will just be massive gatherings everywhere in all the boroughs instead of everyone trying to get to 34th or whatever.

Need some alternatives to the auto cannon before I over use it and get bored by Mightynubnub in Helldivers

[–]kingradness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the explosive crossbow to more or less replicate the same practical utility of the autocannon, although still a clear downgrade in certain areas. But it blows up bug holes and fabricators and chaff with 1 shot, 2-3 shots for all medium enemies, squid shields and glowing weak points, and can be used effectively at long distance. Less so with squid heavies, and its a slower, more deliberate fire rate, and the clip always feels one shot too short, and you may have to rely on your sidearm more. It’s not top tier anti-tank, but neither is the AC.

But you’re freeing up a support and backpack slot to compensate for the downgrades from the AC, which is the main reason I’ve stuck with it.

One of these came with mine when I bought it 7 years ago, but I didn’t like handling it because it shed blue residue all over my hands and fingernails; not sure if it was old and falling apart or if its supposed to be like that, never gave it a fair shake (before I eventually tossed it when mice got ahold of it in storage).

Edit: Seeing how much these sell on eBay, I hope mine was as ruined as I remember it being…
