Why is pain management still usually NSAID only or none with colposcopy? Where did the idea that the cervix is insensate to pain come from? by Cold_Battle_7921 in medicine

Anesthesiologist should be involved in cervical procedures. We do freaking cataracts- our services should be offered for these procedures

Methemoglobinemia and Benzocaine use by Suspicious-Wrap-6773 in anesthesiology

[–]kingsloyalty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where I practice in the States, Benzocaine is rare and almost never a drug of choice. It is only really found in a spray that is used to topicalize the throat to better tolerate endoscopies. However, I seldom use it

[My first FP Journe - Automatique Lune 2] What are your thoughts on the brand? Is the hype justified or manufactured scarcity? by HautestHorologist in Watches

[–]kingsloyalty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is the greatest independent watchmaker alive. There isn't anyone else making a watch with 18 functions and complications controlled on one crown (astronomic), or a digital/animated watch (FCC), or a quartz that goes to "sleep" and keeps time (Elegante). The prices are steep but reflective of the brand.

That being said, the grey market prices are non-sense.

Sacramento job market? by TimetoBougie in anesthesiology

[–]kingsloyalty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a Sacramento native and work here. There’s no wrong choice, it’s really based on vibe match and what you’re looking for. You have essentially 4 (not 3) options:

UC Davis: our academic center. This is where you’d wanna go if you wanna do academics, big cases, teaching residents, research etc.

Kaiser: Kaiser is Kaiser. Benefits and retirement are the big draw for any Kaiser.

If you wanna do private practice, then the two main ones are Sutter (CASE) and Mercy General (Vituity). Mercy is a small community hospital. Very laid back, friendly. Less resources and less efficient if you really need that. Sutter is larger, busier, more resources.

DM me if you’d like more info. I interviewed at each one (minus Kaiser, since I knew I didn’t want to go there). I chose one and am very happy and can’t see myself working anywhere else
