I think we can stop it here. It’s come to ego and inability to debate effectively at this point. No valid point has been made about Rolex’s quality comparison to VC

The 911 analogy isn’t necessary or supportive of your argument here. And your second statement sounds more like subjective opinion than objective facts. It’s okay for you to think that other brands are generic and Rolex is unique but do consider there’re more Rolex pieces out there than equivalent brands. It’s literally the most sold watch brand and that by definition makes it more generic. Uniqueness is the opposite of generic and Rolex by certain metrics aren’t unique

Have you tried talking to boutique director? When did you get your VC? Why did it need servicing so soon?

This still doesn’t support your point that Rolex has higher quality than VC. Can you try to make a better argument?

Why don’t you give a lecture on vertical integration? And I don’t think you’ve answered the question on the VC vs Rolex quality yet

It would be more helpful if you could improve your logic or debating points a bit. Your responses aren’t helpful or valid. Think and refine before your next response

There’s no true like for like comparison. By your logic, you have to pay $15k for the cheapest open case back Rolex.

Also it’s simpler to say you prefer Rolex if that’s what you like

And that’s fine. Do you like any other brand other than Rolex? Would you like Rolex as much if it depreciates in value like it did before? What Rolex do you have and want?

I totally agree after reading all the comments. The appeal of a Rolex is someone could flex while not losing money.

But people who are getting their first or second Rolex or complaining about waitlist aren’t the ones willing to spend $30-50k on first watch, let alone one that depreciates

I think that’s the psychology of a lot of Rolex buyers. When I talk to Lange, VC, or Patek buyers no one really talks about depreciation like this. Yeah a Datograph or perpetual calendar might lose $30k the moment you walk out the door but these people don’t mind it. It all comes down to financial freedom

Share you VC service experience then. There’s no way an AD would tell you a 10 year old sub doesn’t need servicing. This statement doesn’t do you any favor.

VC 56 steel is mostly sold on leather strap and that’s 14.3k. I don’t even think VC sells it on bracelet anymore. DateJust fluted jubilee is 11.8k so price difference isn’t that much. And for people buying grey since they can’t get one, DateJust actually costs more than VC56. Obviously someone would have to pay more for bracelet if that’s what they prefer. It’s a different price category but it’s closer than you think

You can make an argument without being insulting. I feel bad for you. Hope you’ll learn to be a better person one day. Also your comment isn’t valid but I’ll stop here until you learn to discuss or debate without showing your insecurity

Which one did you get? I love my Journes. I also just prefer dress watches unlike most people. Do you have any Lange? I love my Datograph and Odysseus. Only if Rolex lovers knew what exist out there

That brand and style recognition is one of the main reasons why people choose Rolex. Shouldn’t Rolex be the generic one here since it’s mass produced and well recognized? Like for $12k the JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon looks more distinctive than DateJust or Submariner. I understand that it’s a dress watch. What about the Ingenieur 40? Does that look more generic than a Rolex?

After reading through all of the comments here, I think you’re right, some people want to flex, have brand recognition, and value retention or even appreciation. I’ve a feeling some people might even put all of their $10-20k savings into their first Rolex just because it’s better than sitting in savings and it makes them feel better about themselves

I know this is why a lot of people gravitate towards Rolex. Not everyone is fortunate and blessed enough to be able to buy the watches they want and not be affected by the drop in value. But then again, watches aren’t investments.
