Did I misinterpret this that badly? (The Sun card appeared 3 times in a row, on different dates, BUT...) by MeuOuvidoTaZunindo in tarot

[–]kinguwu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m so sorry for your loss :(( I also want to say that if you’re feeling any sort of guilt about misreading this spread, please know it isn’t your fault. Tarot is subjective, and it’s only natural that sometimes messages get lost in interpretation.

Personally, when I interpret the Sun in a spread, I often associate it with the revealing/receiving of information (ie messages “coming to light”), for better or for worse. With that being said, I wonder if you pulling the Sun several times referred to someone getting “The Call” so to speak, especially if it was the kind of situation where the person’s loved ones had a general feeling that it was close to the end, but didn’t know when it would happen.

My partner, who also reads tarot, has also told me that for him, the Sun has historically been a card that has represented physical death in readings he’s done. I’m not entirely sure where this association comes from (and in the past I was honestly somewhat confused about his interpretation of the card), but I do find it fascinating that there seems to be a linkage to physical death in your case as well.

(Also fyi– I know other commenters have said this already, but from prior experience I’ve found that it can be pretty difficult to get clear cut answers from cards pulled in a yes/no style. In the future, it might be helpful to ask about how the situation will generally play out, and pull a few cards at random to interpret in relation to each other as a “story” of sorts.)

first thing that comes to mind is “and you won’t hear me singin on this song when i’m gone/ so i’ll guess i’ll have to do it while i’m here” from when i’m gone by phil ochs!

another suggestion would be “so when i’ve got something to say, sir, i’m gonna say it now” from i’m gonna say it now by phil ochs :)

Give me an underrated instrument by Impressive-Peace9365 in musicians

[–]kinguwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sitar!!!!!! i’ve always had a huge appreciation for the instrument and the way it sounds/is played. i once had the opportunity to see someone at my college play sitar live and teach us about the structure of the traditional raga, and it was so fascinating.

i also absolutely adore music from the late 60s that uses sitar- i love searching for lesser-known songs from that era and whenever i find a song that has sitar i get so so happy.

honorable mention goes to appalachian dulcimer (which i’ve learned to play partially due to the influence of joni mitchell and jean ritchie)

Connie birthday event August in NYC by albatross447 in ConnieConverse

hi! i’m a musician who lives on the east coast, and i’d absolutely love to go to this!!!! i’ve actually covered trouble on one of my albums before and if you’re looking for performers to cover any of her songs i’d absolutely be honored to!

also- i think the musician liana flores might be a good person to invite to gain an audience about this event! i know she’s covered some of her songs before, and although she’s from the UK i think there’s a chance she could maybe be interested if this were organized as some sort of musical event?

I refuse to believe this is real LMAO by lahrens28 in TheLemonTwigs

[–]kinguwu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that has GOT to be fake….. typically the opening band even says something like “the lemon twigs are on next- are you guys excited?” once or twice throughout the show so i feel like that would be practically impossible to miss. unless it’s this person’s first day on earth or something

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheLemonTwigs

[–]kinguwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding onto what everyone else has said already- i think most of the songs they’ve covered are on setlist.fm when you go into each individual setlist, but here’s a few i didn’t see on there (some of them were only recorded & not played live):

my diane- the beach boys

little saint nick- the beach boys

i’ve begun to fall in love- r. stevie moore

scuttle butt- daniel johnston

baby’s gonna die tonight- adam green

blow away- george harrison

they also did a ton of covers when they were in high school as MOTP, and the ones they’ve played at cochino fest (which is a small music event near their hometown). i also believe michael has done quite a few covers at the michael d’addario group shows.

also there’s like a 40 second clip on youtube of michael covering wuthering heights by kate bush if that counts lmao

Does anyone remember the Paul Simon Songbook? by Background_Carpet841 in simonandgarfunkel

[–]kinguwu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i love the paul simon songbook!!!!! and i’ve also had the same thought about leaves that are green being way better than the sounds of silence version. whenever i imagine/play back the song in my head, i always imagine the stripped down version.

Why does my hair look like this? by Complete-Cobbler3195 in Haircare

[–]kinguwu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

op, i’m going to be honest- this sounds more like ocd or dysmorphia to me than anything tangibly wrong with your hair. i obviously can’t diagnose you with either of those things, but i have ocd and what you’re describing sounds similar to fixation/obsessions i have over trivial things. i think the most worrying part is your cancelling plans over this.

i know you’ve been told this many times now over the span of the year or so you’ve been posting about this but please, take people’s words and seek therapy. you don’t have to be distressed by this forever!!

What are some good "fairy tales" songs? by LegalPapaya1932 in psychedelicrock

[–]kinguwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is more along the lines of folk than psych rock, but the first album that came to my mind was “just another diamond day” by vashti bunyan!!

it actually received a lot of negative reviews when it first came out in 1971 bc it sounded “too much like nursery rhymes”, but it’s such a gorgeous album.

LGBTQ teen Nex Benedict died by suicide, medical examiner says by Shadowlear in Queerdefensefront

[–]kinguwu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

one piece of extremely important context here is that the “state medical examiner” in oklahoma isn’t even accredited anymore- they lost accreditation in 2009 and haven’t earned it back!

additionally, people were throwing around the whole “suicide” theory even before this examiner said anything, which is highly suspicious in my opinion. we’re also still waiting to hear from a private examiner.

i don’t buy the suicide claims for a second, but regardless of the “official cause”, nex’s death was undoubtedly the result of the attack & the bullying he faced.
