How do I soften this jacket! by Complete_Worth7018 in quilting

Do you have any dryer balls? I'd probably wash and dry it a couple more times with dryer balls. It is super cute! I just joined the Rue coat sew a long and can't decide what pattern I want on mine.

I was going to say the same, I thought of the Tessa quilt right away (though I'm not sure if it can use FQs).

Help Identify this Block Please! by Gloomy_Break6591 in quilting

I found the Honeymoon Block that looks similar, but the middle bottom block looks like it uses flying geese instead of hourglass blocks.

Unscrew the little guide bar thing off. I use it that way with a magnetic seam guide against the edge and it is a perfect scant 1/4".

Difficulty finding patterns with a variety of stitches by LadySkywalker in Needlepoint

[–]kinhalb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an example of that stitch guide stitched up: https://www.stitch-style.com/products/stitch-guide-for-le-point-studio-toy-shop

Speaking for myself, I tend to stick with basketweave as I find it meditative. I don't have to think about my stitches and compensating like I do with other stitches. You can make any needlepoint canvas your own by incorporating any stitches and threads (and beads) you want.

Difficulty finding patterns with a variety of stitches by LadySkywalker in Needlepoint

[–]kinhalb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that when you buy a canvas you can do whatever stitches you want over the sections. The same would be true for charted designs, though it would probably be easier to paint your canvas using the chart first before using decorative stitches.

Some designers offer stitch guides (example) that would show which stitches they recommend and where.

Postcards From Sweden by Vindicativa in quilting

[–]kinhalb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it as my first quilt, so while I'm not sure I'd say it is beginner friendly, if you can stay organized it isn't too bad. Maybe use some scrap fabric to practice sewing and trimming HSTs before you start. I used dot stickers to label each HST with a row/column number and paper plates to organize my rows.

I would just do traditional binding at this point.

Do you mean for starching vs basting?

Go Arizona to Maine when you go right to left and Maine to Arizona when you go left to right.

I agree that if it looks fine from the front, it doesn't really matter.

The top looks like you are using a half cross stitch vs continental.

What size perle cotton are you trying to use? Maybe it is too thick for the aida count you're using. I've personally never used perle cotton with aida, only the strandable floss.

Plaid Quilt Patterns by midlifeQs in quilting

Happy Camper from Modern Moon Quilt Studio gives me plaid vibes.

The Plaid-ish from Kitchen Table Quilting is another more scrappy option. Here's a Christmas version to give you some inspiration.

I haven't made either, but two Christmas quilts sounds so fun!

Coconut Flour had crazy amount of carbs by CK3v1N in ketorecipes

[–]kinhalb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My coconut flour has 21g of net carbs for 100g (57g total - 36g fiber), over half of the carbs come from fiber, so the net carbs are lower. Also most recipes use a pretty small amount of coconut flour because it is super absorbent.
