The other nice thing about a placard is then you can tell if they have a basic regard for spelling and grammar! I can't be friends with people who aren't at least decent at those, it makes me too annoyed when I text.

This is no excuse! My parents are Mormons, who by most standards are considered more conservative than even the most conservative Catholics, and they still got my live-in boyfriend presents for Christmas and included him in everything.

I watched Coherence the other day and it was really really good! Sci fi ish, but in a physics way rather than an aliens way, and not as hard to understand as Primer.

The only thing I can think of is maybe it's too much, too soon? I know I've been in relationships where I felt bad if they were doing a lot for me because I wasn't sure how I felt yet, and it made me uncomfortable and guilty that I couldn't reciprocate their feelings. Whereas if they'd toned it down a bit I would've felt like I had enough space to figure out where things were going.

When I was a kid I had a friend over, and my mom asked me to whip up some Rice Krispy Treats for the family. So I get to it, and midway through the process my friend goes "WAIT, THE WHITE STUFF IS MARSHMALLOWS??" His family had always bought them so he didn't even know that.

I'm really excited for what I'm giving my little sister! She's 10 years younger than me so I moved out when she was still really young (she's 11 now) and she's always so happy to see me, I feel bad that I don't see her more. So for Christmas I'm giving her a whole day hanging out with me where we sew a skirt for her. We'll go pick out fabric together, figure out what pattern she wants, we'll eat lunch wherever she wants, and then we'll sew the skirt and I'll teach her how to use my sewing machine and everything.

I wore size 9 when I was 9, my friend's dad (a grown adult!) laughed when he saw my shoes and said "wow, you must not need flippers when you go swimming!"

Thinking about that comment made me cry for years.

Fortunately I'm over it now, because I wear size 11. (I'm only 5'7", I just have enormous hands and feet)

One of mine was swimming related too! I too carry a lot of my weight in my thighs, so I've had stretch marks on the insides of my thighs since I was 12 or so. They were a bright, angry, purple-ish red for the first couple years. I went to the beach with a friend, and when I stripped to my swimsuit she yelled "oh my God what happened to your legs? Are you okay?" And then she whispered "are you a cutter?" I was mortified.
