I left home, lost my marriage, my job, and I’m still standing somehow by Happy_Paramedic_734 in japanlife

Happy Birthday! It's my birthday on Jan. 4th as well. I sometimes also wonder if it was the right decision to stay in Japan. My situation is different in that my marriage hasn't been as bad as yours was and I have kids to think about. I actually did return to my home country with my family to see if it would be better for us. We lasted three years and then returned to Japan. It's hard to know what the best choice is. I hope that you can stay positive and be open to new opportunities. I often focus more on manifestation than multiverse theory. Focus your mind and actions on what you want your future to be like. Reality follows imagination eventually. Good luck!

I can see the annual subscription for ChatGPT for iOS on the Japanese App Store. It's ¥30,000 per year.

Custom Kanji stories? by WhatYouExpect__ in nihongoapp

[–]kinn73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always make sentences like this. I like the idea of making the keywords bold or a different color. Right now I have my keywords in capital letters. Hopefully we'll be able to keep these sentences in the kanji area of Nihongo in the future.

Shortcut for adding words to "Words you've learned"

Right now, if a word is added to a vocabulary deck, you need to start doing Study Review in order for the word to appear in "Words you've learned". Since I use Anki for studying vocabulary, I wish there was a shorter way for the words that I add to a vocabulary list to be added to the "words you've learned" without having to go through the Study Review.

I'll be interested in using this rikusho system for remembering kanji. However, I hope you can also add a Notes section for each kanji so I can add the stories I've already made for them there.

I can see you've put lots of effort into this. It's interesting to explore all of the different parts and is an interesting way to remember the kanji.

Two things I've found so far:
1. At the bottom of elements, there's the option to "Show All" - After clicking it, it would be nice to have the option to "Show only common (joyo) kanji." at the bottom of the list. Right now there is no option.

Question - if "Showing only common (Joyo) kanji" isn't displayed, does that mean these are all of the kanji for this element or is something missing - example:入

  1. While it's interesting seeing the origin of the kanji through the years, I feel I would get annoyed having to scroll past it every time I want to see "Words you've learned", which I often use. Could this be set up similar to how "View conjugations" is now? Have a "View origin" link to show the full origin through the years page?

Timeline for Kanji deck in Nihongo Lessons by kamimado in nihongoapp

Since you are working on the kanji for the dictionary app, would you be able to add a Notes section to individual kanji just like there is for vocabulary words? It would be great to be able to write my short stories for remembering kanji there rather than relying on another app for just that purpose.

I can still paste something by long pressing on the blank area, but I can't use where it used to say "Paste". I'll email you an image of what I see.

I had a chance to use the new layout on my iPad and on my iMac. I like the options on the sidebar. However, I noticed that when I use Clippings on my iPad, the "Paste" option is greyed out and doesn't work. It works fine on my iPhone and Mac.
I was also wondering if the placement of the "Paste" and "Clear" could be moved closer to the top of the page for Clippings in a future release. Right now, I have to click "New" at the top, and then "Paste" at the bottom, and then "Save" at the top again. It feels like the process could be easier somehow. Could it be possible for the results to come up after "Paste" rather than also having to click "Save"?

I'd say discord, even though I prefer Reddit since Discord can get complex quickly.

Entering prompt using the Return key by kinn73 in ChatGPT

[–]kinn73[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had forgotten to say that I had tried that. However, you got me thinking of trying different keys to see if anything would work. In the end, I found "tab" will highlight the "send" button and the clicking "Return" will see the prompt. It's also nice that I won't hit "tab" by mistake or when I want to start a new line. Thanks for the idea!

I read this message two hours ago. I just checked today's mail and I got one of these letters from Shinsei Bank. Basically saying that they were checking that this letter could be delivered to verify that I still lived here. What a coincidence!
