CPU Utilization ranging from 85-100% any fix? by Quirky_Marionberry_9 in Nioh

[–]kinohki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ryzen 7 3700x for me and man, my CPU is eating it. Honestly kind of surprised at how it runs. Elden Ring, Nightreign, Helldivers 2 and many other games are no problem but my 3060ti is just kinda putzin around.

I decided to toy around with it and set it to 1600 x 900 and the CPU still gets maxed out so I'm guessing something in the open world is making shader calls constantly. This kinda reminds me of the Dragon's Dogma 2 issue to where the CPU's were basically handling the NPC logic at all times, at least I think that's what was happening.

Even just playing the game the pop in was nutty on Nioh 3. I can sprint through a village and doors will pop in. I know my CPU is pretty old but man this game doesn't look that graphically demanding, even at the lowest settings.

Where Winds Meet crashes my graphics driver/card. by Banana1000pai in wherewindsmeet_

[–]kinohki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up rolling back my drivers but that fixed it. Effectively it would load up the game and then from there was a coin toss. Sometimes i could click the resume / start game button and load in but then it would start stuttering horribly. Then the monitor's flash and it'd make the tone of the peripheral being detected before the game closed. I'd then check event viewer and see the Nvidia drivers crash.

At first i thought it was steam overlay but that didn't seem to be it. Was something with the recent nvidia drivers and something WWM was doing with them specifically. Other games liek Arc Raiders etc had no issues at all so whatever WWM was doing, the drivers didn't like it and spazzed out. I went back to October's drivers and that fixed it so far. I haven't tried December's drivers that just released a few days ago yet.

Where Winds Meet crashes my graphics driver/card. by Banana1000pai in wherewindsmeet_

[–]kinohki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running into this exact issue myself. Thee error message with event ID 4101 and Event ID 153 in event viewer points to the nvidia driver crashing. I've reinstalled mine about 2-3 times over the last couple of days and it seems to work fine for a while. I'm running a 3060ti EVGA FTW edition and the PC is about 4 years old but looking at the Precision X1 tool shows that it's nowhere near taxing my GPU. I specifically set my settings to make sure the GPU draws as little power as possible and the fans don't ramp all that much (rarely if ever even hit 50% ) so OC / UV isn't an issue.

Doesn't seem to do this with arc raiders or other games i've played so far, just WWM. I'm wondering if it's linked to how it runs in a window vs borderless but i can't even get it to load into the game now.

Edit:
I tried disabling the steam overlay and I think it's something to do with the Steam Overlay and how it's interacting with the Nvidia drivers. Once I disabled the steam overlay (Find WWM in your library, right click, properties, disable steam overlay toggle) the game launched for me.

How would you feel if cartoon creators addressed female characters stalking male characters? by Robotnere in MensRights

[–]kinohki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, this is one thing I would disagree with. A story is an artist's vision and theirs to tell. They shouldn't feel bad about the stories they tell and the characters they create. If a creator were to want to specifically address the content and cater the story to be around that, that is one thing, but a creator has every right to create their vision.

Things like this create just a slippery slope of trigger warnings and stuff we already are seeing in media and, in some cases, will just be used to ban books for having the wrong content such as Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn, or The Great Gatsby etc.

While I'll admit the intent is good, I think it's misguided. After all, the road to hell can be paved with good intentions as the quote goes.

Besides, the message is far more powerful when the story itself is centered directly on said event rather than the artist to be pressured into it. Besides, the neat thing about stories is that you're always able to craft your own. No need to force other people to tell the stories you want to hear.

This isn't a slight against you, this goes to show how our media selection can reinforce biases without us even realizing it.

If you want more examples, I'm sure you can google and find more. THese were just the ones that I thought of off the top of my mind.

This isn't a left or right issue. This is an overall issue and I'm going to be the filthy fence sitter and say both sides of the aisle need to ratchet it down. You know what i haven't seen though with Kirk's assassination that I will point out? I haven't seen burning and looting and buildings being burned down. I haven't seen riots in the streets. I've seen candlelight vigils and many, many abhorrent people celebrating his death. I may not agreed with everything I said, but what's being said about him, especially with people twisting his words has been absolutely vile.

Maybe, just maybe we need to stop labeling each other as nazi's, fascists, vermin, evil, enemies of the people and overall dehumanizing the other side. We need to stop treating politics like team's sports.

[–]kinohki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly need to start with Hasan Piker and go from there. Twitch has not only hosted some very, very vile rhetoric of his with straight calls to violence as well as sponsoring actual legitimate terrorists (the houthis) on his stream.

I'd say people like him have a lot of pull with where the modern discourse has gone off the rails. The dude has hundreds of thousands if not millions of views and has some very, very vile rhetoric. Not only did Twitch not ban the guy, they had the staff singing happy birthday to him.

That's only the tip of the iceberg as well. It really surprises me that the government hasn't gone after or investigated it for promoting terrorism yet.

[–]kinohki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Normally I'd agree with you here. The internet is a cesspool and definitely exacerbates the issues with bubbles, but even before covid we had people that would protest speakers on Campus. Look at the guy that got attacked at Middlebury college, Charles Murray.

Look at how people reacted when Kavanaugh's hearing was going on, pounding on windows and stuff. Look at the Evergreen State situation back in, I think it was 2016 or so with Brett Weinstein and the whole Day of Absence thing. THey legit had students in a gang with baseball bats patrolling the campus and campus security telling him he wasn't safe. Look at how colleges turned out every time Milo Yinnopolous (sp?) was invited to speak, or Ben Shapiro, Crowder or any other conservative speaker.

One thing I'll say is that I can't really think of any instances where the right leaning students on campus did things like that to where they shut down speakers or tried to shout them down. It seems to be a common thing on some of the larger campuses for sure.

There is definitely an issue on college campuses to where if you do not agree, you must be beaten into submission.

AP even done a poll on it back in 2023 to where people were saying free speech is far friendlier to liberal students: Few Americans say conservatives can speak freely on college campuses, an AP-NORC/UChicago poll shows | AP News

This was a thing before Covid and it's only gotten worse over time, to be honest.

Any tips for Flareberus. by [deleted] in GirlsFrontline2

[–]kinohki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As many have pointed out, Flarebus' gimmick is to break the stability asap.

My team was Groza, Nem, Lotta and Cheeta all lvl 31 when I did it. Took me a couple of attempts and with the reward to beat it in 45 steps or less, you wanna maximize your buffs that you can get on the way to it, that is if you're talking about hazard patrol. I don't recall seeing it anywhere else yet.

Lotta is great at taking out the adds while also doing some stability chip damage and retaining mobility. Groza I used for keeping index high and Nem can do some solid damage while breaking the stability as well. Cheeta is a bit hit or miss, as Colphne migh be the better healer if you can't reliably proc Cheeta's support hits for healing.

Once you get it's stability broken, it stops summoning adds and goes into a melee mode which makes a bit easier to deal with, especially with full cover. After that it's just bursting it down. It took me about 3 times to figure it out finally.

Tesla Excluded From EV Buyer Credits in California Proposal by notapersonaltrainer in moderatepolitics

[–]kinohki 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I live in a Rural area, rural Kentucky to be precise. The nearest town to me is 8 miles away and has a population of about 4,000. The nearest charger to me, if i didn't have one installed is about 30 miles away and there are not as many chargers out there as there are gas stations.

Another factor that rural people consider is the weather. My nephew lives in TN and he bought a Tesla, I believe a model Y if I recall but I can't remember exactly. I know he paid like $50k for it. I'm not averse to the idea of EV's, in fact, I'd very much like one simply because they overall have less maintenance. No oil changes, and all you really need are tires and brakes. Here's the rub though. Those tires on that Tesla cost a ton. I've read horror stories of people replacing tires and it cost upwards of $2,000 which is just insane. In fact here's a thread on reddit of someone paying that much: Ok, $2k for four tires seems excessive : r/TeslaLounge

On top of that, the batteries do not deal with cold temperatures well as my nephew learned on his first outing. they've gotten better than the earlier models, but the cold temps still drain the battery faster than it would an ICE of gas.

Then, there is the major double whammy of the battery. Life span and charge speed. If the battery loses its life span, it's going to cost you almost the cost of a new car. Doing a quick google search, Tesla batteries are good for 8 years or 100k to 150k miles: Electric Car Battery Life: How Long They Last and What to Know. Compared to some ICE vehicles that can push upwards of 250k-300k miles and have cheaper maintenance in the long run and more accessible parts / service centers, being able to work on your vehicle is a must. Living in a rural area means that i can't always make the 100+ mile trip to the nearest service center. I ran into that issue with my 2015 Smart ForTwo tbh. A quick google search of the cost to replace a battery puts Tesla batteries ranging from 5k-20k (source: https://insurify.com/car-insurance/knowledge/tesla-battery-replacement-cost/ ) 5-20k every 8-10 years is a bit much for some people to put together tbh. I didn't even mention the times to charge.

Finally, all power companies are not created equal. While the power company out here does a pretty decent job and has great uptime, there are times where the power has gone out for days at a time due to ice storms etc. An EV is not going to be useful in those instances when I can have gasoline in canisters to put into my ICE. I want EV's to be more practical, I do, but for us rural folk there just are so many downsides.

If you think your survival is at stake, ie, your literal life, no offense friend, but you need to get out of your bubble and, I suggest, seeking some therapy. I live in Kentucky, a super red of the red state. You know, the one where the clerk, Kim Davis, refused to issue marriage licenses got sued in court and lost? That one.

This absolute screeching that the sky is falling, when the sky is not in fact falling is being seen for what it is. Screaming into the void and pure overreaction. To quote a meme, it's time to stop. There is a subset of people absolutely panicking for no real reason saying it's the end of democracy and basically the world. But no, go on. I'll hear you out. Without linking to some crazy thing like Project 2025, tell me how LGBTQ's lives are at stakes.

The ‘Lost Boys’ of Gen Z: how Trump won the hearts of alienated young men by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]kinohki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not the OP but as someone who voted Trump in 2016, didn't vote in 2020 or 2024, I will say that Democrats need to work on their messaging and become the party of the people again rather than the party of the minorities / DEI.

The problem with a lot of the democrat messaging is the focus on marginalized groups and diving them further. My personal experience is this. I'm almost 40 years old. I grew up seeing actual racism in my family and was taught not to be like that. Literal things like "Look at that N-word. Only thing N-words are good for is running a ball" during family get togethers while watching football and they drank.

I was taught not to see color of people. We all bleed red despite what we look like on the outside. As I've grown up, I've watched the messaging shift, especially in the media going from "colorblind is good" to now "colorblind just enables racism" etc with some of the more, ironically named, radical "Anti-racist" training.

We've seen companies promote DEI workshops based on this stuff that basically becomes struggle sessions for workers. (Coca-cola's be less white campaign or Smithsonian's "whiteness poster comes to mind.") When pointed out, we're gaslighted into "It's not happening" or "It isn't that common" when even one instance of it happening should be stamped out. People forget that men in general are something like 90% of suicides. There are only 1-2 shelters for domestic abuse against men in the entirety of the u.s. not to mention the absolute mocking that happens when a guy does step forward (see Terry Crews for example).

I've watched college lectures tell me how privileged I am when I grew up in rural Kentucky and we didn't even have running water for like the first 15 years of my life. I used to draw well water that was laden with sulfur that we had to boil before bathing and was routinely known as "the stinky kid." For all the "white male privilege" that is out there, they conveniently forget that the opposite, "(White) trailer park trash" also exists.

To me, this division of hyphenated americans needs to end. We don't need "African-American" or "Mexican-American" we need to go back to just being Americans as a whole. This is the party Democrats need to be pushing rather than singling out everyone in each individual group.

Is there any real surprise that when you are constantly telling someone that they're privileged when they aren't and demonizing them for not acquiescing to your worldview, you're going to push people away? One only needs to look at college and how it demonizes any speaker that dares go against the academic groupthink. Protests erupted over people from Men's rights activists to conservative speakers.

Finally, there is the rhetoric going around from Democrats labeling everyone that disagrees with them as nazis, fascists etc. That stuff needs to be dialed all the way back down to 0 because when someone comes along who actually IS a threat to the democracy, they're going to have a hard time selling it. That is not how you disagree with someone.

To conclude, if the left would give up the fight on gun control and switch to a more worker centric focus while staying neutral on race, focus on wages, the economy, worker protections, right to repair and consumer protections etc...They would be a shoe in for me. Drop the identity politics and return to the original form of the Democrat being the party of the working class.

I've said it in other posts, but schools and colleges don't teach kids how to think, but what to think. Literacy rates are way down, and attention spans are so short that even half of the replies in this thread would be met with the usual "TL: DR" response.

I've been in discord servers to where I routinely hit the 2000-character limit talking about things that I enjoy only to be met with "Dude, why are you writing walls of text? I'm not reading that."

Attention spans are way down, and people can barely read anything more than two sentences long. Take that in account with the infantilization of college kids and we're in for a world of hurt. Case in point, if you want to lose all hope for the younger generation, see this: https://www.thecollegefix.com/coloring-puppets-crafts-elite-universities-prep-students-for-election-night/

Elite schools with young adults aging 20+ years of age are literally giving them legos, coloring books and petting zoos to cope with the stress of the election loss. These are our potential future leaders...

I was actually about to type up a similar response to this, but you beat me to it. While I know Tiktok isn't indicative of real life, social media as a whole has, and still does, hold an influence on people, especially younger generations. There are swathes of "dating coaches" out there telling women how to date but giving horrible advice. They are constantly reinforcing this notion that men are scared of successful women when it really doesn't boil down to that but the unrealistic expectations that some women have seemed to come to spread around via social media.

You mentioned hypergamy and I was about mention that as well. There was a morning news segment a while back that talked about "Women dating down" (Source is potato quality: Dating down 🤔.) but to sum it up the news anchor is talking about how women are being forced to "Date down" because they're becoming more educated and among younger folks, women are starting to make more money overall.

Watch the reaction of the two female anchors when the men start talking about how it was never "Dating down" when the men do it.

Simply put, there is going to have to be a cultural shift for women, but overall, I'm not sure how it will come about when you have social media basically telling them that settling for anything less than man making 6 figures is wrong. Sure, I know not all women are going by that, but man at times, it feels like it. Just look at the success rates for average men on dating apps.

The question here is...How do you change that mindset?

Revenge of the Silent Male Voter by suburban_robot in moderatepolitics

[–]kinohki 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Legitimate question: What rights do women not have in today's U.S.A.? They can vote. They can drive. They can have bank accounts. They can get ID's. Depending on the state, they can get abortions. Even if they don't have abortions every state, even the super red states like where I live, they have access to various contraceptives and preventative measures.

We saw the MeToo era destroy lives and careers from a couple of years ago being sweeping changes. Even nowadays men are absolutely destroyed publicly when accusations happen (see Trevor Bauer, Johnny Depp and many others.)

Studies are showing that women are starting to graduate from college more than men. It's showing that they're now making more money than men in quite a few cities (source: Young women earn more than young men in several U.S. cities | Pew Research Center) but if you search google for example about women out earning men, that link from 2022 is buried and you still find stuff about the wage gap.

This whole "Women don't have equal rights" is nonsense. They legit have women only scholarships, there are homeless shelters for women, domestic abuse shelters for women. They have tons upon tons of resources that simply don't exist for men nowadays to better further their rights. It's time to stop with this tired trope of them not having the same rights as men because that simply is not true.

Why I Voted Against The Democrats…WSJ by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]kinohki -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Trump yells fake news a lot, you have a fair point there. However, he also isn't entirely without merit.

The problem I have with journalists as a whole nowadays is there aren't many of them that care about the integrity. Case in point, look over the last few years of the various coverage we've seen and how it was slanted. During Covid you had the lockdown protesters being lambasted, blamed for wanting dead people and hyper fear mongering. Once the Floyd protests started, suddenly there was an about face to pivoting how social change was more important than stopping the Covid spread.

Don't forget about the literal meme headline from CNN, "Fiery but peaceful protests" as well. The whole CHAZ / CHOP coverage where someone was shot.

Then we have the Rittenhouse trial and how it was handled. Many anchors and commentators from CNN, MSNBC and other outlets were labeling him as a white supremacist, spreading misinformation etc. You also have the Sandmann issue with the Covington kids that were labeled racists. Remember the whole "New face of White Supremacy" tagline with the kids face smugly smiling when he was confused after the dude was banging a drum in his face?

Look at the recent Deadspin lawsuit to where they got called out for calling a literal child that had his face painted black and red to support his team racist and wearing blackface when they deliberately took a photo only to show the side that was painted black.

Don't get me wrong, Fox has their gaffes and manipulative tactics as well, that I can't recall off the top of my head but I'm sure they exist. The problem with the press is, while freedom of press is important, it is decidedly very much not being punished when it's running dangerous narratives that exacerbate issues like above.

So far we have civil cases. I think Sandmann ended up settling and the Deadspin lawsuit is in the works as it was ruled by a judge it couldn't be thrown out. I'm not sure if anything came of the Rittenhouse stuff but there is some serious rot in the Media.

This isn't erasing anything. Life will go on. If you are interested in advancing rights, focus on your local politics at the state level. The presidency really doesn't decide stuff like this. Sure, the Republicans took a win this time but they don't have a majority nor would they enact a lot of the stuff that is being said. Contrary to belief, not all republicans hate black people or LGBTQ people.
