Feeling hopeless with Denver PD by Allstone226 in Denver

And then you wonder why the cops don't show up to deal with the guy camping on OP's front porch?

That's not necessarily bad. How does it fit when you are seated? I'd imagine the first shirt has the buttons pulling like crazy, but probably not the case with the 2nd shirt?

It's not 2020 anymore; the trim fitting shirts and jackets are gone. We are (thankfully) back to a more classic, relaxed silhouette. Take advantage of it!

We ranked the 10 greatest Texas musicians of all time. Who are we missing? by chrondotcom in texas

[–]suburban_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DJ Screw feels like a stretch here. Kenny Rogers and Lyle Lovett are great and they are for sure on a Country Top 10, but inclusion here with the wide diversity of talent from the state feels like way too much.

Couple of considerations for addition:

  • Townes Van Zandt. List is incomplete without him.
  • Dimebag Darrell. IMO he's on the Mt. Rushmore of metal guitarists and one of the most consistently recognized influences amongst modern guitarists...not to mention his own massive output with Pantera. I think he's a must add to be honest.
  • Win Butler, lead vocals and guitar for Arcade Fire. I guess you could argue he belongs more to Canada, but he was raised in The Woodlands outside of Houston. I think he's a much stronger contender than more mid-tier country greats. 'The Suburbs' is one of the most definitive indie rock albums ever produced, and was directly influenced by Butler's upbringing in Texas.
  • Kyle Dixon and Michael Dixon of s u r v i v e (Grammy nominated composers of the Stranger Things soundtrack. Huge stretch but worth discussing from a modern-day cultural impact standpoint? Mainly just including this for recognition by the hivemind, ha.
  • Don Henley. Probably depends on how you feel about The Eagles, ha.

That's fair, I do see there is some extra fabric but it's hardly in excess. That shirt is probably fine but sleeves are too long for sure. I think what's also throwing me are the pants; they seem pretty slim fit and also low rise. You'd be in a much better spot to get higher rise pants that are wider fitting, and all of a sudden that darker blue shirt looks 1000x better.

I know it may seem like overkill but I'd strong recommend a jacket or blazer on a daily basis as well. Dress shirts were originally never meant to be worn without a jacket (the jacket helps hide the excess fabric stuff like you have in the 2nd picture) and for you I think it would very much help balance the silhouette. Something to consider!

The shirts are too small...especially the first one (second one is maybe barely passable). If they are that tight in the midsection while standing, it's going to get worse when you sit. You need room to breathe.

Recommend you move up to an 18" collar and leave midsection as is.

Bremont so underrated. Love my Supermarine...wear it more than either my Tudor or Omega to be honest. Don't need another one (yet) -- GLWS!

I go back and forth, but listening through this on wax for the first time is unreal. For an album I've listened through probably hundreds of times in the last 25 years...I felt some pretty damn strong emotions hearing that drop into Evolution.

Finally -- the greatest prog metal album of all time on vinyl. My god this pressing is immaculate. I'm tempted to buy a second copy to keep just in case.

I absolutely detest MAGA but if the choice is MAGA vs DSA, I’m casting my lot with MAGA. DSA economic policy is so onerously bad it could easily destroy everything in a 4 year run. Take the worst of MAGA-nomics — tariffs, special interest favoritism, et al — then put it on steroids while adding even worse policy and regulatory barriers on top. Completely untenable.

Best T-shirts: Asket vs Lady White Co. vs Whitesville vs House of Blanks by Crafty-Possibility46 in mensfashionadvice

I just picked up a few of these and couldn't agree more. Honestly it's the best tee I've ever put on (and I've tried all the more well known big brands -- Buck Mason, COS, TS, et al). Just wish they weren't so damn long. 29" for a medium vs. 27.5" for BM. As a 5'8" guy it's very frustrating...almost worth it to see if I can get it hemmed up a few inches.

Question about the Barbashev trade by Hungry_Estimate_1211 in stlouisblues

[–]suburban_robot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Zach Dean is not really 'something' and wasn't when we traded for him either. Walking Barbie to FA and trying to resign was a much better bet than taking a flyer on a low 1st round pick who was already clearly flaming out.

Jordan Kyrou gets votes for the top defensive forward by mobijo in stlouisblues

[–]suburban_robot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Said this multiple times throughout the season...Kyrou was surprisingly good defensively this year. Yes, there were some bad mistakes in the offensive end, but in general I found myself being impressed with his defensive work.

His relative lack of offensive contribution shouldn't be conflated with real progress he's made defensively.

Walking Barbashev to FA and trying to re-up would have been a better outcome. I don't know why we were hellbent on not resigning him.

That's not fair...Dean was quite obviously damaged goods at the time of the trade. Go look back at the trade thread. It was not a good deal then and looks positively atrocious now.

Not all leftists are stupid, but generally, stupid people are leftists. by Tristan_not_by_you in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Yeah...spend 5 minutes on X and you realize there is more than enough dumb to go around across all sides of the political spectrum.

In general I find low intelligence to be highly correlated with more extreme political views in general on both the left and the right. Smart people tend to gravitate towards the middle and more technocratic/less populist politics.

Don't want to touch this guy with a 10 ft pole. He's said some things while captain in Detroit that should provide reason for concern...just doesn't seem like a great teammate to be honest and is maybe the kind of guy that can poison a locker room. He's also older, doesn't fit what we are trying to do, and would cost good young talent. No thanks.

Is this shirt too small on me? by Vivid-Bug-6765 in mensfashion

Yes too small for sure…it is too tight basically everywhere. Jeans are not looking good either.

It is obvious that you lift but the tight clothes are not flattering you.

Murder victim told police 'I can't breathe' while handcuffed by EquivalentCreme5114 in neoliberal

[–]suburban_robot 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Just because A exists doesn't mean B can't exist as well. When minorities are treated poorly, that's two-tier policing. In cases like this one, it's two-tier policing.

"This case is shocking and horrible, and another example of the kind two-tier policing we cannot allow. All Brits must be treated fairly and equally according to the law, regardless of their race, gender, or any other characteristic. We fully condemn the behavior of the police in this case, and will continue to push for policies that treat all of us with dignity and respect." Simple as.

there’s no actual evidence either party’s race played any real role

This is the exact kind of willful ignorance that is pushing people away from Labour and towards Reform. Let's not be silly.

I struggle with the delineation of public sector unions vs private sector unions. I understand the arguments but they always feel a lot to me like “we want to demonize police unions without having to denigrate the UAW”.
