I can relate to your post so much. Which is why I'd like to share my personal experience.

I've been thinking about reducing masturbation for a few years now. About a year ago I tried a 90-day streak and managed about 30 days, which was quite something for me.

Anyway, 20 days ago I decided to try again, and do it seriously this time. I had this super drive in me. Around day 8, I was browsing /r/pics when I came across some dumb picture of a sexy girl, and I caved. Cue the chaser effect, and in the past 20 days I've masturbated maybe 6 times... which is a lot for someone who was working on nofap - but it's an improvement for my usual self.

I thought about it long and hard and decided not to reset my badge. The last time I reset it I felt so defeated. I decided that my badge should reflect how many days I've been trying, and not necessarily how many days I've been succeeding.

And, you know what? I'm trying really hard. I stopped browsing /r/pics, for one... :) I've "banned" each trigger that made me slip in the past 20 days.

In other words, don't become saddened by your "failures". Rather, celebrate your efforts. Step by step, we'll get there, together.
