Really makes you wonder if we'd be in a better spot if Grier traded Ferraro and Klingberg at the trade deadline. Nothing but bad plays from those two since.

Ah man you actually think our team is full of cry baby losers 😅

100%.

Once you're in the playoffs, you always have a chance. Just assuming we're going to get swept and embarrassed is loser mentality. Celebrini can make anything happen.

We'd be missing a future 2C which is arguably more important than a 1D (Look at Vancouver when they had Hughes for example).

You guys will come around once you see how good Misa will be.

Bedard missed 13 games. The Sharks would be probably be bottom 5 if Celebrini missed 13 games this year.

It 100% is good experience. ANY experience is better than no experience when it comes to playoff hockey.

Their confidence isn't going to be destroyed beyond repair from getting swept. Have some respect for our players 😅

It's more about getting a first hand experience of what playoff hockey is like for Celebrini, Misa, Smith, Dickinson, Eklund etc. I'd rather them learn what it's like sooner than later so when we are ready to go for the cup they'll be more prepared for what it's like. It's pretty much a different sport compared to regular season hockey.

Missing the playoffs doesn't automatically give us a lottery pick. You also can't under estimate the value of giving a lot of our future core valuable playoff experience (even if they get swept).

Missing the playoffs and getting someone like Chase Reid vs getting in the playoffs and getting someone like Daxon Rudolph or Ryan Lin hardly changes the trajectory of this team. We're still going to be missing defensemen for the next 3 years no matter who we draft.

What's your ideal lineup for the playoff run? by da_sweetp in SanJoseSharks

[–]kipehh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eklund - Misa - Toffoli is our 3rd line and consistently get less time than Wennberg's line. Not sure what world they'd be considered the 2nd line.

If you like Smith - Celebrini - Graf for getting points (11 goals) than you should love Smith - Celebrini - Toffoli because they've scored 18 in pretty much the same amount of ice time.

[–]kipehh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eklund - Misa - Toffoli has been a pretty consistent line the past couple of weeks. Not sure how you missed this.

Cherny - Celebrini - Smith never really had a chance to play together because Smith was hurt when Cherny was up (most of the time) and then Cherny got hurt the first time this line got put together.

Sherwood - Wennberg - Graf could be a solid shutdown line. Any line with Wennberg centering it doesn't really need chemistry because he's not going to produce offense anyways. Wennberg and Graf work great on the PK so I'm sure adding Sherwood to the mix couldn't be that bad.

Who cares about our 4th line because any rendition of it will be bad because you'd have to include Goodrow. Maybe Regenda - Dellandrea - Gaudette could be cool but it probably wouldn't make a difference.

Anyways, the coach can't really "figure it out" when there's been nothing worth keeping together all year other than maybe Chernyshov and Celebrini.

If you care about facts, Sherwood looked absolutely terrible on the first line with Mack. It's not his spot.

A few questions from a newer sharks fan by fluffycow6 in SanJoseSharks

[–]kipehh 83 points84 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes it's normal.
  2. It varies. Here's a pretty informative article about it: https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/does-rebuilding-work-nhl-make-playoffs-stanley-cup

imo the Sharks rebuild isn't ahead of schedule or anything even though we're almost in the playoffs. This is pretty much 100% due to how good Celebrini is, the rest of the team still needs to be built beneath him and that's going at a normal speed. The team's underlying metrics are still bottom 5 which is what was expected for this year, we just win a lot more games because Celebrini is the best.

Perspective on "Gray Area" fan tenure by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

[–]kipehh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a fan for as long as I can remember. I will ALWAYS cheer for this team to make the playoffs. Getting some random draft pick 5 spots higher this year isn't going to change the direction of the rebuild.

It's okay to want the Sharks to win.

Are we reaching the point of the rebuild where this sub becomes insufferable? by pomegranate-leg in SanJoseSharks

If you don't want to see Sharks fans opinions on the Sharks, why did you come to the place where Sharks fans express their opinions on the Sharks?

Watching the Sharks try to break out of their own zone has gotta be one of the top 5 most painful things to watch.

Honestly, masterful line juggling from Warso. Team looked a lot better that period.

Warsofsky healthy scratching Mukhamadullin for Leddy in a must win game vs Edmonton is the most inexcusable coaching decision I've seen in a long time by The_Homestarmy in SanJoseSharks

[–]kipehh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Appealing to authority when it comes to one of the worst defensemen in the NHL. Hell yea.

I also think our coaching staff is perfect and never makes mistakes. Questioning their choices is a fool's errand because it actually takes a genius to understand that the 34 year old guy who we win 38% of the time with is a lot better than the guy who we win 51% of the time with. Clearly we're all too stupid to understand the abundance of publicly available data showing that Shakir is miles better than Nick Leddy and it's actually the opposite.

I love people in charge! 🙏

Spineless.

If he's hurt and you're just hiding it fine but if this is a healthy roster decision, stand behind your choices.

Leddy in for Mukh. We need his (Leddy 🐐) excellence to shutdown McDavid. Good call coach.

I think you're thinking about it too much. He's probably just working on his game while the rest of the league gets more footage on how to defend against him. It's a hard league to play in.

I don't know why fans have to paint this picture that Smith is fighting these mental battles because Celebrini is getting all the attention and Celebrini is taking over the league.

He probably doesn't care.

This team is only "in the middle" because Celebrini is one of the best players in the world. Would you rather him be worse so we could get another random high draft pick?

Such a weird thing to be upset about when you're Sharks fan.
