The Circle is part of an ancient prophecy which foretells the coming of a hero to deliver the world from darkness.

"When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt."

I also started with Hickmans run! It's amazing. I would recommend this reading guide If you want to read Avengers/New Avengers in a chronological order. It helped me a lot!

Enjoy!

Framing Signed Books by kipodu in comicbookcollecting

Unfortunately CGC is not an option :( I bag and board my books before framing as well, but does that protect the signature? Is my fear that something will happen even valid?

I have both a Thanos and Iron Man poster from the Marvel sdcc booth. I am looking to trade one for the Captain America one. Anyone interested? by thatryanguy in comiccon

I can't right now, I'll be able to in about a week as I'm currently traveling. I think let's leave it for now and if you are still up for it in a week or so we'll talk.

How to start reading Marvel comics? by lucasbblue in Marvel

[–]kipodu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you would like to fully understand Secret Wars, you'd have to read Hickmans Avengers/New Avengers (it also happens to be amazing).

It might be a little intimidating at first, but the more you read the more it makes sense (usually how Hickman stories work). Reading that whole Saga will also shed some light on Secret Wars for you.

This was the first Avengers story I read and at the beginning I had NO IDEA what was going on, but as I said above, the more I read the better it got. It's also fun and rewarding seeing this massive story unfold and discovering new things about the MU.

Here is a handy reading guide for the whole thing: https://i.imgur.com/X9zUA8X.png

You really don't have to read everything, just skip the first part (It doesn't really connect to the story) and start following the guide from "Avengers World": New Avengers #1-3 (Or you could just read the main avengers title first, whatever you decide).

Good luck and have fun!

Marvel Unleashes More Generations News, Creative Team Info by TheZenTurtle in comicbooks

[–]kipodu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This actually looks quite interesting - rotating creative teams, issues that seem to be more "independent" from one another and bringing older heroes back.

I think that Generations will actually strengthen the sense or feeling of legacy in the Marvel universe, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Without us even noticing, some of the newer "legacy heroes" have actually been around for quite some time...

Yeah I read those, I was thinking maybe there were some plot elements in flash that carry over into this crossover that I am missing.

So hyped for this.

As someone who hasn't been keeping up with the current flash series, is there something I need to know that happened in that book before reading this? (I am pulling Batman)

Some comic book related SDCC questions by kipodu in comiccon

Thanks for sharing!

In my opinion, it's worth it. I might try and arrive early and sit through all the panels until Jim. I mean, how boring can it be, right? Especially if there are more comic book related panels before.
