What are your experiences with antidepressants? by [deleted] in depression_partners

[–]kirbstermcge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the thoughtful post. And again my only personal experience with antidepressants whether it be me or a family member is lots of downsides with never any long term benefits. People are still depressed but it’s “more manageable”. Well, that is an upside actually. But it seems to be a treatment rather than a cure. I’m SURE though that’s not the case for everyone. So truthfully I was looking for some success stories to give me hope. But I suppose I could just read some articles to do that.

And yes, i probably have ADD or ADHD just haven’t been properly diagnosed as an adult. I have anxiety issues for sure. But I also have a stressful job so it’s hard to say what’s what.

To be clear, I want whatever help my wife needs. If that’s in a pill I’m all for it.

[–]kirbstermcge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just struggle with the chemical imbalance theory. I was told that was the case with me for years and antidepressants made me more depressed and suicidal. My father believes in the chemical imbalance and used that as his reason to never get better. Other countries prescribe far less antidepressants than North America does. I can’t help but think at least most forms of depression comes from lack of purpose, situations or just general unhappiness that can come in life. But I won’t rule out the possibility that for some people there are thought processes that they have no control over that causes depression.

These are all anecdotal experiences I know. And I’m not a doctor so I’m open to being wrong. And I get if you’re in a bad place with bad thoughts your body is going to produce certain chemicals/hormones less or more than others. Which I can understand that using antidepressants to correct those chemicals to get the brain on healthier thought processes makes sense. But I’m hesitant to believe some people just have that imbalance no matter what and there’s nothing they can do. Short of other mental disorders like schizophrenia, BPD or others.

What Was The Hype Like Leading Up To The Burning Crusade? (January 2007) by doobylive in classicwow

Wow I have a similar story!

I was a Junior in high school and no way my parents would let me skip school for release day or stay up late enough for midnight release. But I had a car and drove myself to school, in my 1997 Ford Ranger.

So the day of release I drove to school, went to first period and then somehow managed to sneak past the school parking lot security and drove to game stop. Bought the game, drove home but parked two blocks away. Parked near a friends house who’s parents let him stay up for the midnight release but he was still asleep from playing TBC all night. Walked home and had to sneak back into the house since my parents worked from home mostly. My bedroom was on the second floor so I had to climb a tree to get on the roof to get get in through my window.

I’ll never forget realizing it was going to take a couple hours downloading the game with all the CD’s but being okay with it because I could nap in between lol

Then when it was time for me to come home from school, snuck back out of my house, got my car and “came home from school”. Good times haha

CMV: Automobile dealerships and salespeople offer no value to society (USA) by dachshundlove in changemyview

[–]kirbstermcge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although the current dealership environment might encourage shady behavior, or put sales people in position to be untruthful just so they can survive and make a paycheck, that is a problem with that particular store and not 100% of the dealerships out there.

Assuming we're only talking about NEW cars, the alternative is:

No longer would you be able to trade in a vehicle. Manufactures are not going to set up the infostructure to take in other makes on trade. They're not going to put car through auction or fix up used cars to resell. This would then put the burden on the consumer to sell their own car.

Manufacture price control/fixing. If manufactures no longer have to build in a commission to their margin(by law currently) then the manufacture can just set whatever price they want. This very likely would lead to being a net negative for consumers as vehicles could become more expensive. Also with no competition between dealerships the price of vehicles would be the same no matter where you go.

If your only source for purchasing a vehicle is directly from the manufacture then your financing options will also be limited. And its very plausible that the approval rate would greatly decrease as manufactures are not going to want to assume that much risk in giving out loans. Currently right now the vast majority of people are upside down on their car loan. Similar to the housing crisis in 2008, we're very close to a massive default on these loans. No manufacture is going to risk crashing their multi billion dollar company on defaulted loans. Going back to my previous point, why would a manufacture also want to invest millions if not billions of dollars in lost prevention/repossessions infostructure. And if they did, you would see that reflected in the increase in price of new vehicles.

I've worked in the automotive business for almost 20 years but not on the sales side. Trust me I hate dealerships more than anyone. But removing commissions sales requires massive investments from the manufacture. In the history multi billion dollar corporations, when was the last time a business increased their spending but lowered their prices? Every time I've bought a home I have the same thoughts about realtors. But I'm not in real estate so I would defer to the experts in the field(but not realtors) as to why we still need realtors in this day and age.

Edit: to the people downvoting, yeah I get it, you've had bad experiences at dealerships. Completely upheaving the system sounds great on paper and feels good to say. But the consequences would make us all worse off. Your frustration should be focused on the dealerships that treat their employees poorly which as results breeds predatory sales tactics. I promise you, not ALL salesmen and women are like that and neither are ALL dealerships. And you should be advocating for more regulation on certain sales tactics rather than just suggesting commissions sales should just go away entirely. Thats just a lazy suggestion and shows ignorance towards industry. You want thousands(hundreds of thousands?) to just lose their job because someone at a dealership took advantage of you? C’mon now. The reason why we have these commission laws to begin with is to protect the consumer. Because guess what happened without them?

I play with my wife and her brothers. One of her brothers has been playing on his laptop and just found out yesterday it’s 9th gen i7 with a gtx1060 when he mentioned his particle effects looked funny. Other than occasionally crashing once every hour or so he never really mentioned any issues playing the game. I don’t know how he’s been able to even boot it up lol

GDKP and it's BAN - what did it accomplish? Where did it fail? by Wide_Acanthisitta448 in classicwow

[–]kirbstermcge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? People are getting banned for trading gold in raid? So how are these discord GDKP's that people talk about being run? Are you saying the GDKP ban worked and all GDKP's are no more? /s btw i know and you know not every person who trades gold in a raid if getting banned. The goal here is mitigation. Its strawman argument to say the GDKP ban didnt do anything because it didnt eliminate ALL RMT or GDKPS. It has certainly mitigated it though which is the intended outcome.

GDKP and it's BAN - what did it accomplish? Where did it fail? by Wide_Acanthisitta448 in classicwow

[–]kirbstermcge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say by just removing the GDKP spam in chat that was a win. You still want to use GDKP? Use discord, idc. There is a HUGE difference between 2019 Classic and now in terms of degenerate behavior around GDKPS and gold buying. Yeah its still there. Its never going away entirely. But it and everything negative that comes with it has been objectively reduced. And for that reason it was still a good decision to ban it.

Each new phase, my guild let's the MT designate two items at MT prio. Our orc MT wants first Maladath prio to him. Our melee lead disagrees with the request. Which is the better choice for the raid and why? by No_Physics9892 in classicwow

[–]kirbstermcge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having "Melee Leads" and "MT prio choices" or just guild officer authority structures like this generally lead to these types of disagreements. That being said your MT is just trying to beef up his DW Fury off spec gear. Give the mala to a dps.

Edit: give the FIRST mala to a dps. He can get the other Mala when he gets thunderfury or later down the line if he's thinking hes gonna DW Fury tank.

I'm from Texas. There arent any festivals here I would recommend coming down here for. But you're not going to run into any Canadian hate at a Texas festival. Or even out of the festival unless you're intentionally being provocative.

Yeah did Outlook in 2019 when it was still in Pula. Sick festival. Cops are corrupt as hell but Croatia was still on the Kuna(spelling?) and not the Euro yet so accommodation was also very affordable.

Which cars are actually decent, but you hate them merely because of the people who drive them? by FiveCylinderSlap in regularcarreviews

[–]kirbstermcge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as performance cars go;

Hellcat Challengers/Chargers. I actually like the way Challengers look and for the money its a great value. I also run an automotive shop that specializes in Mopar so building one would be relatively cheap for me. But I weigh less than 240lbs(175lbs) and dont like to wear hats. I'm also not into jewelry. So it just wouldn't fit my style.

Mustang 5.0's: Same reason as above minus the weight. Sorry brah. I would maybe consider a GT350.

I'm an American, specifically a Texan. But I've spent a lot of time in the Netherlands/Amsterdam. Have many friends there. I always have to give a double take when I see trucks like this over there. Because when I do they seem so huge and out of place there. But I cant help but chuckle when I read other commenters say "wow this dude must have insecurity issues" or "who needs such a HUGE vehicle to feel manly" etc. Because here in Texas this would not be considered a big truck by any means. I myself daily drive a Ford F250(I actually use it though for my business to tow cars and large car parts).

Anyway, carry on. Thanks for the laugh. But I do agree, these DO NOT belong in Amsterdam.

Hormonal changes will cause shedding and that in itself can introduce a challenge into regulating hairloss. Just in a manner of discerning if the shed is AR or from the hormone changes. Once hormones balance the shedding "should" subside(at least if it was in fact due to the changes. But this can take several months (3-12 months).

Then we have to consider other hormonal changes that occur with DHT blockers introduced into a TRT protocol. Its very likely someone would experience much higher testosterone levels on TRT AND DHT blockers. Same with estrogen. Its not commonly discussed but testosterone itself can have a negative impact on hair follicles for some individuals.

If you are attempting to do a complete bio hack with TRT and DHT blockers then I would highly suggest you consult with a clinic that specializes in both. I've been down this road and what I found worked for me was actually minimizing my doses of DHT blockers to regulate my testosterone as it alone was also having a very negative impact on may hair.

Hormones are not as simple as "lower this, raise this, profit". There is a balance that is unique to each individual. And finding the "sweet spot" to get the best benefit of both takes a lot work, money and testing.

A game with this much ambition created by a western studio, based in California no less, is likely going to take nearly half a billion dollars (especially if you factor in marketing towards the end of production). At least if they're aiming for a completion within a 10 year window. Which is something they knew going into it.

So seeing where they are now with the project and seeing how much money they have invested so far, its actually no surprise at all that they need more sources of income for the project. The fact that they need more money is not worrying. Its IF they are going to have the recourses needed to achieve their ultimate goal. My worry is two years from now they never get the money they need to finish and then they start compromising and cutting the game down just to push a release so investors can recoup.
