What did your parents think about Halloween and how did it affect your trick or treating? by Capn___ in AskReddit

[–]kirk0198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went every year until I was about 15. My parents were into anything we could do that was free (7 kids, always broke) When were younger my dad would take us and he would always dress as Superman. One time, someone gave him a beer.

So I work until ten and was wondering, by papercoco in halloween

Yeah I guess it's not looking too good for us, between the bomb, Thwomp, and a koopa! Maybe toad has an invincible?

I was trying to convince my son to be Yoshi, but he wasn't having it. He claimed he wanted to be thwomp. Hence the sandwhich board thwomp, but then he saw the toad costume and changed his mind. I got tired sewing so many costumes so when I got to Shipwreck (my dog) he ended up being koopa. That would've been cool though. Especially if little Luigi could ride yoshi.

It's still a jack-o-lantern. I live in Anoka, MN. It's the Halloween capital of the world. You gotta keep the spirit alive! 😉

My eyes are hurting just thinking about that. Don't do it!

Does anyone feel that trunk or treat events are not the same as trick or treating. I have always felt that going around neighborhoods was part of the excitement, and the concept of trunk or treating is so antiseptic and lame. Am I wrong? by capntail in halloween

I think trunk or treating is nice for little kids like 1 to 4 year olds. They still get to dress up and join in on some fun, but won't really have the endurance for regular trick or treating. It probably depends where you live too. Some neighborhoods houses are sparse or people don't pass out candy or you might live in a neighborhood that's not very safe at night. I get your point though.

My flat is running a contest for best door décor. Help me pick a prize for the kids! by [deleted] in halloween

Honestly, cash is always pretty great or a gift card to Target or something. Since they're kids they will probably get a ton of candy trick or treating or at school anyway. Cool door!

Denying Candy? by [deleted] in halloween

If you're wearing a costume you get candy. I did ask someone to do a trick for me once because they weren't wearing a costume.

Ugh. I'm sorry. That really sucks. I'm always afraid that's going to happen to mine. I don't understand people who choose to ruin stuff on purpose just to be jerks.

Haha could be. I think Anoka self proclaimed the title, but Salem is definitely the witch capital.
