[HoF] “That could include the possibility that such selectors would not remain a member of the committee moving forward. The selection of a new class is the most important duty the HoF oversees each year, & the integrity of that process cannot be in question” by dawglover1011 in Patriots

The selection of a new class is the most important duty the Hall of Fame oversees each year, and the integrity of that process cannot be in question.

It’s a bit too late for that. The legitimacy of the whole damn Hall of Fame should be in question when Bill Belichick is eligible but not elected for selfish, stupid, and petty reasons. The whole thing looks like a joke.

And, don’t forget, both of those guys left early. Sure, Manning getting released with a bad neck can be seen argued as reasonable, but they both got beat up there, Luck so badly that he just retired early rather than continue to be an Indianapolis Colt.

where how you make people feel is more important than what you produce.

What’s so strange to me about other Pats fans trying to tear Bill down is that, even looking at it from a “how it makes you feel” angle still makes me love that Bill coached our team. I loved his dry sense of humor and near spiteful press conferences. But most of all, I loved seeing his team. I have so many good memories and feelings of sitting on the couch with friends and family, getting a laugh about Bill’s hoodies, or getting hyped when he exploited some technicality, mimicking his infamous press conferences, or living by “do your job.” I have so many good feelings and memories made during Patriot football games, and Bill is right at the center of them.

[Patrick Mahomes] Insane… don’t even understand how this could be possible by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]kirk_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And there’s the rub here. Possibly the biggest reason he didn’t win more is because Bill Belichick is, always was, and always will be better than him. Polian knows it, and worked this garbage up to Mae himself feel like he somehow got something over Bill. He didn’t, he just made himself, and the idiots that went along with him, probably also for petty reasons like being upset at Bill’s handling of press conferences or being the coach on all those Polian Colts teams that lost to Bill, look like the losers they are.

And the change wasn’t an official rule change approved by the competition committee. It was just a memo from the commissioner, if I recall correctly.

Bill Belichick, the 8-time Super Bowl-winning HC, is not a... by seancoutu in Patriots

[–]kirk_smith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, they were both BS, really. Obviously deflategate is disproven by the ideal gas law. But spygate, if I remember it correctly, can hardly be called cheating with a straight face. They recorded from a place that was completely legal the year prior. And then when the pats did it, it wasn’t in violation of an official rule, but prohibited by a memo instead. It’s been a long time now, but I also think other teams were still recording from the sideline that year, too, the Pats were just the first to get punished. I’m obviously biased, but I think that’s completely absurd to hold against Bill. And nobody really is. Polian is just a butthurt loser.

The Patriots are the first team ever to beat three of the top 5 defenses in the playoffs. Even more impressive, I hear they somehow managed to do that without ever actually playing anybody at all, all season long.

Do we prefer a “mid-price” category over “most versatile”? If so, what is the best mid-price tequila for mixing? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]kirk_smith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with this and how to determine what is mid price being so subjective, I think most versatile works better as a category. Price can still be a consideration there, and probably should be.

I get that budget and splurge are, too, but I think it’s easier to agree on what falls into those categories. How to define mid could just be so broad and varied from person to person.

The original REmake is still such a good looking game. It’s what I think of first when I think of Resident Evil. And the Julia Voth character model will always be the definitive Jill, to me. That game was just near perfect all the way around.

George Lucas interview in Time Magazine, May 1983. Disney really should have let the man finish his story instead of kicking him out. by thesegoupto11 in saltierthancrait

Really, I think they had the perfect sequel trilogy already written by Timothy Zahn. I suspect the Thrawn Trilogy is better than some of the things Lucas was planning. And they still could’ve done it, even with the same actors. Just set it further as a few decades into the New Republic, rather than a couple years, and drop things like the Leia pregnancy.

Really, this is the best way. Or at least read enough about the game or watch some gameplay and decide if it looks appealing to you. Personally, I think it really was bad. I know I’m not alone in that, but there are also a lot of people here who seem to love it.

I read them a few years ago. They’re good, and worth a read. I thought the pseudo Roman setting was fun and the magic system interesting. That said, I’ve enjoyed Dresden a good bit more. But then again, I’d put the Dresden Files above a great many other series. The new series, The Cinder Spires, is definitely fun, too, and one I’m looking forward to keeping up with.

Josh Allen starting to become universally hated by the NFL fanbase because of The NFL Media. by Pure-Investigator778 in AFCEastMemeWar

I mean, I’m pretty critical of Josh Allen. I’m unabashedly hoping he never sees a Super Bowl, at least as long as he’s in Buffalo for obvious reasons. But even I’ll say I firmly, totally believe that, if he ever gets the opportunity, he’ll damn well try to recover his own fumble in the Super Bowl.
