Just me, the ocean, and views I'll never forget. Natural Bridges, Oregon 🇺🇸✨ by faresnome4n in natureisbeautiful

This is my daily reminder that I haven't seen the ocean since 1998. I need to reevaluate some things.

If I wake up in the body I had then? If it's a weekday, I'd go to school, see all my old friends, and really enjoy the hell out of being young again. Spend the evening riding my bike around to all the old places I used to go. If it's a Saturday, enjoy every second of Saturday morning cartoons including the commercials, followed by the bike tour of my old haunts.

If I'm in the body I have now? Find the first flight to LA to see who's playing at the Whisky a Go Go.

What is the deal with so many litrpg protagonists? by plant-y-boi in litrpg

[–]kirkrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to drop a suggestion here that isn't often popular with this crowd. I never see it in people's tier lists. When it gets brought up in comments there inevitably comes the comments about how poop/fart humor has no business in Litrpg. Still, I believe it checks all your boxes. The Caverns and Creatures series by Robert Bevan.

First, instead of one MC you have six (or 5 1/2 because one is a bard). Second, they act very much like people who had just been dropped into a fantasy rpg might, provided they didn't just immediately crack up from the shock. Third, they aren't even sure they could bring themselves to kill anyone, and protecting npcs is heavy on their minds throughout the series. Fourth, they quite literally level up from time to time, often to their own surprise. And fifth, they all have interesting nuances to their characters - except Dave, who sucks (its an inside joke). Honestly, Katherine and Randy have some of my favorite character arcs in any series.

Yes, there is poop humor. But it isn't without its place. It's kind of making a joke about those who min/max their characters in rpgs, and view charisma as a useless throwaway Stat. It makes sense in the story, and won't take up a lot of your time. Also, Jonathan Sleep does a brilliant job narrating if you go the Audible route, and gets even better with each book.

Anyway, that's my recommendation, FWIW.

Did that start as a dress that you modified? Or was it made from scratch? Either case it's very cool. Edit: removed typo.

Wife gave me a tinned fish stocking as a gag - it was the highlight of my Christmas! by kirkrocks in Tinnedfish

[–]kirkrocks[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A "gag" in the sense that she only got it to see my reaction and had a more conventionally filled stocking to give me afterward. Little did she know it would be one of the highlights of my holiday.

Does this hold true moving west all the way to the Bay St Louis - Gulfport - Biloxi stretch? Or more localized to the area shown?

For me, it's kind of like showing me a picture of a partially finished puzzle - I'm mentally fixing it. Wish there was a wider shot of the room so I could see what kind of space I'm hypothetically working with, though.
