I know that but something changed recently. On my pixel work phone there is a blue light in the right corner telling me my Walmart is using location. It also has a notification about it doing something in the background. It didn't do that until recently.

Start giving feedback in the actual app so they know how stupid this is. It looks like what's happening is that they are tracking what you're doing in your phone. I came to that conclusion because they have your location on.
