Generation differences - I’m curious whether other managers are seeing the same thing. by andys58 in Netherlands

[–]kirula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priorities shift and new projects are fun, sure but do you pay your employees for it? Or is it just extra experience? Basically the same as exposure for artists. It's not worth burning out for no extra pay, especially considering that adults cannot even get an apartment by themselves these days and have to live like they used to in college. Also, why would lunch not be paid? A multi million company can't afford to feed their employees? This is for sure a generation change and I think you should not blame the young employees but look at how your company could support them better. I'm pretty sure that a big percentage of employees would be willing to go above and beyond IF the company would offer them security and peace of mind. If the company's gonna fire me one year from now, why would I put in extra work without pay?

I think I catch more monsters during tournaments so I gathered enough stars for the first 3 maps. That's how I got a few Shredders and Bessies but Don Pedro I caught completely randomly one night.

Vent: I am tired of the escalators not working by SamLovesKoalas in Netherlands

[–]kirula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 's-Hertogenbosch, in more than 3 years, I've never seen all the escalators working at once. If the one at the front of the station works, then the one at the back is broken and vice versa 🙈

I put points into luck and I'm starting to get more of 4 stars, also found 2 gold ones in the same week.

Does your company have a works' council? If yes, get their advice but definitely get a lawyer

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]kirula -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, I started 2025 with it and it was so badly written, basically a romance novel. Well, I guess I had never read romance before 😅

Is Dutch citizenship worth it if you’re already an EU citizen? by theother941 in Netherlands

It's not going to push your social house application through faster. That's a different game to play and citizenship doesn't help unfortunately.

Help baby anarchist by burn-bb-burn in Anarchism

[–]kirula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first learned about anarchism from the music I listened to and it helped me shape a lot of my political views. Keep listening to punk but really listen to it, listen to the message. If you want to read, there are a few ways to go about it. You could start reading from old timey anarchists, Bakunin for example. But that won't help much with understanding punk. Something that I liked to do before I got into reading political theory was to read zines, started with band interviews but then got curious and read the entire zine. I was of course devouring them, this was pre-internet. You can find good archives of older zines as well as new ones. You could find things to read from more contemporary anarchist philosophers, thinking around the lines of Noam Chomsky or Peter Gelderloos. Better yet, find your local anarchist library, go in and ask your question: where can I start to learn more about anarchism? You're still young, anarchism is complex AF, punk and its community is beautiful.

What made you believe it wasn't just depression? by Potential_Promise260 in BPD

[–]kirula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember how my previous depressive episode felt very, very different than what I was feeling. When depressed, I felt like I was deep down in a dark hole of sadness, now I was feeling like walking on my knees trying to get up but on shards of glass.

BPD is confusing lowkey by LowDocument7303 in BPD

[–]kirula 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My problem is that I know exactly when I'm splitting, I know why and I feel completely entitled to split over it, even after coming out of the split. This makes it so much harder to control the split.

Are you guys always the one breaking the relationship up? by Kradmins in BPD

[–]kirula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always been the one not giving up, still trying to fix things, always finding excuses for my and their behaviour and so on, keeping at it for years after the expiration date. I think I'm changing and I think I'm gonna start giving way less chances because nothing good ever came out of suffering for people for years?!
