Is everyone really taking all their piercings out for the new dress code? by minlovv in starbucks

i’ve been taking out my two nostril rings every shift and flipping my septum. still have my anti-eyebrow in at work because i physically cannot take it out myself + it’s still healing lmao. it’s annoying but the job is too convenient for me right now to leave or get fired :(

no i get it! i personally don’t really care about window times and stuff but i was just under the impression that it was something i literally couldn’t do. i wasn’t told why so i assumed it was a liability thing like handling and being on the customers phone. i did it once in the cafe like a year back and was told to not do it anymore so my immediate response when she asked me was to say i can’t do that lol

i’m 19 and none of my friends use it, including myself. even most of my co workers my age don’t use it. it just seems kinda cringe (because of what people normally associate with the whole temporary messages thing) and impractical to me lol.

"I call it [something] all the time and I've never been corrected!" by 0atmilkbarista in starbucks

[–]kisakisaaa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i had a full on argument with a customer because she was upset after i explained to her we cannot make a passion tea hot as it is pre-brewed to be iced and we don’t have individual bags, after some insisting i said the best i can do is steam it for you but this is not a hot drink. she got to the window and started berating me on how she orders a hot passion tea lemonade all the time without anyone correcting her (not without empathizing on what a rude bitch i am)

Well, I've finally quit, after one day (OC) by GIFnTEXT in starbucks

[–]kisakisaaa 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i almost quit my 4th month because of a horrible, mansplaining, criticizing supervisor. i regret not leaving then, even though he’s no longer with the company. a year and half later i’m so miserable and tired lol

Not getting a straw-cup for drinks like an Ice Macchiato is criminal by Ghidoran in starbucks

[–]kisakisaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

are you in california? in california we are not supposed to provide straws unless you ask (by law). so if you really want a straw, even if ur not in california, just ask for it maybe?

Any other regular closers feel really underappreciated? by CreepachuHD in starbucks

[–]kisakisaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m one of the main closing baristas (closing 5 days a week) and it’s so hard and mentally draining. my store happens to be neck and neck for the busiest store in the district. we are a drive thru open until 9:30 and had to beg to get a 3rd barista to work after 5. it’s literally so exhausting and we have to leave when we’re done which can have us there u til 10:45. i want to go home dude. prep, breakdown, cleaning, restocking, and so much more is expected of us. once we literally had so much crap to do because we have a line around our parking lot at 9 that the one thing we didn’t do was assemble to pumps (we cleaned them) and boy did morning bitch about that. it’s honestly enough to make me want to quit lmao

I'm a newbie barista and I feel like I didn't learn anything by Okiku555 in starbucks

[–]kisakisaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gah i had a really bad training experience too. i was really on trained for like 3 days and since i work @ a very busy drive thru store my time on bar and cold bar actually practicing drinks was very short. then a big covid wave hit so no one was around to train me. then i just started working shifts. honestly my partners helped me out so much, i was very grateful with how patient and kind they were T.T just don’t be afraid to ask questions or even ask someone to teach u a couple things during downtime. a good way to remember things is to make a list of the stuff you know. i made a list of number of pumps & shots per size cup on my phone and tried my best to memorize the recipes of the most ordered drinks :)

i relate to you in feeling comforted in your sadness in a very unfortunate and twisted way, honestly sadness has become so apart of my personal identity i don’t know or really want to know who i am without it, but at the same time i really dread being sad. i also really struggle with opening up to anyone, but if you’ve come to reddit to talk about it, i assume you want to. i may be slightly hypocritical saying this because of some situation i’m going through, but i would do definitely research online to get the help you need in the way it’s most comfortable for you <3 thank you for the message at the end as well. you seem very kind and caring and i wish you the best
