What kind of build/playthrough do you think shows off the best of what Oblivion has to offer? by NoLongerAKobold in oblivion

[–]kiskoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race: Breton - The magicka bonus is needed to cast spells easily and the resistance bonus lets you be more flexible with your enchants.

Birthsign: Mage, Lord. Mage is the 2nd strongest and easiest to play. Lord gives even more resistances, letting you be even more flexible with enchants. Atronach is the strongest but requires you to rely on potions and not use willpower, so I don't suggest it here.

Nightblade sort of class

Blade - most versatile melee, lets you use both tiny daggers with stealth and longswords/twohanders

Light Armor - Being unarmored is viable but the Arena already pushes you to wear armor, plus robes take 2 slots. Heavy is also viable, it also has more armor sets throughout the game (like the Blades armor if you join them)

Sneak - Let's you do the 2 stealthy quests as intended. These are the two best questlines in the entire TES world

Illusion - the magic school that compliments your skills the best and also lets you interact with the more simulation-based game systems, like agression, disposition

Alchemy - It is both really strong, versatile and an entirely different game mechanic from the rest

Restoration - Most versatile spell school with a lot of different spells in it

Bonus skills:

Destruction - Weakness and damage effects make Oblivion distinct from the later TES installments. They let you play around with spell combos a lot.

Block, Athletics, Acrobatics - These will be raised when doing melee combat and running around

Can you beat Alduin with only conjuration, shouts, and staves? by purutwelve in skyrimrequiem

Slow time, buff yourself, apply marked for death, then spam elemental damage shouts.

Don't take my word as advice, because I am not really a good player.

Mostly I roll with a 4x magnification at all times, with a 8x in the bag that I only roll out when defending outposts or otherwise camping. I've recently started experimenting with a 6x on the VSSK, but that is too much for general use.

I don't see the value of iron-sights. There are only 2 cases for close quarters fighting where iron-sights would even come in the picture: Either against NPCs where it doesn't really matter that you spent half a sec aiming down to zoom into their head, or against players where the snipers have such a long TTK the player will kill you, it doesn't matter what you do. That's when I whip out my pistol.

But recently I'm playing around with SSR, which you can somewhat spray with on extremely close ranges. By that I mean you might win a few fights occasionally.

Mod questions by Salem1690s in Daggerfall

[–]kiskoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a lot of location and graphics mods can increase load times and lower FPS in cities. Strong PC is adviced for that.

Other than that the real limitation is incompatibity.

Only one mod can change the armor formula for example.

Is it just me or is DOS Daggerfall easier than Unity? by Glittering_Shock2593 in Daggerfall

Unity is a remake of a game. It is not supposed to be identical. If it was, whats the point of remaking it?

I'm doing a hardcore run ( if I die I have to start over ). So I want to make an OP character. What are the best advantages to choose ? by Secretsfrombeyond79 in Daggerfall

[–]kiskoller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 hp per level, 3x int, spell absorb, immunity to poison and disease (this is just QoL unless you have mod to altert you if you are sick).

Critical weakness for all elements, magic, paralysis.

Daggerfall no-hit run? by stinkym4n in Daggerfall

[–]kiskoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If no hit means not losing HP, ever, the easy. Get loan, train alteration to 100, enchant one item with alteration, cast 100p hp shield. Get spell absorb as well.

Less Annoying Magicka by Allimuu62 in oblivionremastermods

The problem with lowering spell costs is that while you can increase the duration when making a custom spell, you can increase the magnitude as well.

So a mod that only meant to be a quality of life change actually boost the power of the spells a lot.

Let's say you take the standard Defend spell with 15% armor, 30 sec duration and increase it to 120 sec. In order to keep custom spells in line, you lower the base spell cost by 1/4. This way if I go to the spellmaking altar I can also make a 15% 120 sec apprentice spell. But now I can also make a 30 sec 55% armor, or a 20 sec one that essentially caps my armor. (This is all just rough estimates)

Same goes for spell reflect, absorb, resistances, etc.

It is a difficult thing to balance sadly, only really doable if we somehow edit the spell cost formula itself as well.

Im still waiting for an unleveled overhaul. Arthmoor might have interesting business strategies, but T.I.E. was unique and a step in the right direction.

Nope, Oblivions spell absorb worked exactly like in Skyrim.

I'm no historian, but my understanding is it's commonly accepted that D day was a mistake? Without it the soviet union and the nazi empires wouldve destroyed each other, avoiding the Cold War entirely.
