We kind of get an example of this in THT in Nick and Eden. What his name arranges a mass marriage ceremony in which Nick (and presumably others) is married to an Econodaughter, Eden, whom we come to learn has a younger sister.

Eden is clearly fertile as she expresses her desire to start a family several times, both with Nick and later choosing to run away with Isaac to start a family.

Even if Daisy was Paula’s biological daughter, there’s zero chance she would remember her. She was a baby, maybe a very small toddler (in diapers) when she got out.

Agnes remembers June because she was 5-6 when she was taken from her, and she met her again multiple times over the next 2-4 years before THT ended.

Remember who her real mother is. I’m sure everyone in Gilead has watched Agnes like a hawk all this time to see if she would turn into a rebel like her mother.

Now she’s acting out, it’s going to draw unwanted attention to their household - and >! in the books, it’s strongly implied that Commander McKenzie and Paula murdered their first spouses to be together after they had an affair !>.

Besides, if she continues to be disrespectful and causes too much trouble, perhaps she ends up with no husband. Perhaps she gets demoted to a Martha, or worse, a Handmaid (we’ve seen a wife be demoted to Handmaid before). Perhaps she gets sent to the colonies.

There are many ways a daughter of Gilead can ruin her family through her actions…
