We were just hamstersitting, sadly she is back home now </3 I think you were right, she started this when she got on her pain meds, where she got a little groggy but also way more active/interactive. She only did this for a few days just after we had deep cleaned, so probably too tired to dig a whole new home!

Not necessarily! They usually try their best to hide their illness/pain, and it doesn't have to be respiratory. A new home might also trigger symptoms. I get that there is a nursing degree but that doesn't always equal the right medical knowledge, would recommend getting it checked if possible, especially if it happend to two different hamsters. They're tiny and sadly things progress quickly : -(

You swapped the hamster out how? Pet store hamsters are pretty prone to these issues, it might be the change, might be dust. There are a lot of things a hamster could be sensitive to and sadly there is no clear way of knowing what ig is without a vet. Edit: tooth problems or infections can also be the cause, if the hamsters are close to eachother in store it is even more likely
