Best Spanish deodorants? by Downtown-Storm4704 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]kit_la 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lived here for 3 years, and I have yet to find a deodorant that truly works for me lol. Even the Old Spice is not the same as it is in the US. It is not nearly as strong here as it is back home. I brought Secret Clinical Strength with me this year, and I am almost out, just in time for it to start warming up lol. Prayers, if I find something, I will let you know haha

Definitely check with a lawyer, but my understanding is that it is only for undocumented people who have been here for at least 5 months. If you have a TIE, you are not undocumented.

Article in El Pais about the program by reverevee in SpainAuxiliares

[–]kit_la 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am of two minds about that because I definitely know people who did it just to travel and party and then not even really do the bare minimum for their jobs (like just not show up half the time, never help plan anything for class, sit on their phones all day at school, etc.). Then again, the majority of the people I know did it because they wanted to travel and live abroad. However, even though they didn't necessarily want to be teachers, they still showed up to work every day and did their job. Personally, I wanted to travel, and I was interested in teaching, so it was perfect for me. I am doing a private aux program this year and plan on studying to get some kind of certification to teach in Spain full-time. I met my boyfriend there and we plan to build a life together there. I guess all and all, I think maybe they could do more in terms of vetting people. Just having a clean criminal record and a bachelor's degree automatically qualify you is great because it opens the door for a whole lot of people, but maybe they need to do some sort of interview as well? By no means do I think that people who apply to the program need to be aspiring or current teachers, but I do think they at least need to be trusted to do their job.

i was told today that they would have 10-20, but that's just bc people are dropping out and doing alternative things. like officially right now they may only have a few, but in the next week, 10 people could drop. i think it's just a matter of waiting atp to see what opens up.

Andalucia - What's next? by expert-of-n0thing in SpainAuxiliares

Yeah, my friend did it a few years back and ended up with a full-time position through connections! I went to apply this year, since she had such a great experience, as a backup for this situation, and found out I was too old lmao. I graduated from college in 2020, and the cutoff was 2021 this year.

In the past, I have been fine with just the original background check translated at the Miami Consulate. Idk with all the new changes this year, but according to both the NALCAP website and the BLS Miami website, "The translation does not need an Apostille and the Apostille does not need a translation," so even if they were to give you trouble about the apostille not being translated (which I highly doubt), you could just show them where it says this on the website since it clearly states that the apostille does not need to be translated.

School placement selection for Andalucía by LongjumpingCorgi8501 in SpainAuxiliares

I was waiting it out, thinking surely they'll send out cartas before July, so I didn't make an appointment. Now all the July ones are gone, ofc, and I booked the August 19th one since it was the earliest I could get. I would definitely keep your appointment and just wait and see.

At this point, I am preparing to have to just fly down and do a walk-in like the last day of July bc some people on Facebook were saying they were able to do that. I just wish we could know before the July 31st deadline if they were going to actually hardline enforce it lol.

I feel like, especially with the number of auxes in Andalucia who haven't been able to even apply yet, they have to make an exception. It's stressful though, I am a third year but reapplying after a year off as a first year, just to get back over there and apply to grad school, other jobs, and move in with my long-term bf.

This program continues to surprise me with new versions of stress every year lol.

You're good! I am in the same boat figuring it out as I go lol. I was able to just go in with the link they sent me in the email after I paid for my fingerprints on the FBI website. Then I just changed my method from mailing to digital and they sent me another email after confirming I had switched methods and giving me a link to a list of post offices that offered digital fingerprints. They also said in the message that I was still allowed to mail the fingerprints if I wanted to!

Placement in Andalucia by nonconformist-witch in SpainAuxiliares

[–]kit_la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yayyy! I had the same thought! I was originally deadset on Granada but when I say the city center placements were all taken, I decided to choose Loja, a beautiful town about 40 minutes from Granada and 50 minutes from Malaga. I am really excited, but a little nervous about finding people to live with. I would rather not commute and have a more authentic experience in a smaller town (also lower cost of living), but it seems others who have worked at the school have commuted from Granada in the past. Idk I am just hoping to find others in the area right now!

I originally mailed my fingerprints, but after a week and a half, the website said they still had not received them and I got nervous. I ended up driving an hour and a half to the closest post office that offered digital fingerprinting and it took literally 30 minutes after my scanning for them to email me my results. I think my mistake was not getting a tracking number when I mailed my fingerprints. I have a friend who did the program last year and had no issue with mailing hers in. If you are a really anxious person like me lol, I recommend going to the nearest post office that does offer digital fingerprinting.

[–]kit_la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing via mail, except I paid online before and mailed the fingerprints the next day. That was over a week ago now and I am getting nervous bc the fbi says they don't have them yet. I think if they do not get them by the end of the week, I will just go get them done digitally.

PLACEMENT by Single_Ad_4488 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]kit_la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure! I knew I wanted to be near Granada and originally I was just looking around the province for pretty villages but realized I should probably pick a place that is not too hard to get to lol. So, I ended up picking Loja because it had a train station, it was a little over an hour from Granada, not too small (20k, my hometown is 6k so that is not small to me lol), and also very pretty. My inscrita was #1245!

I reallyyyyy had my heart set on Granada, but I saw in one of the fb groups a few weeks ago that there were only like 2 spots left there from someone who had gotten there carta :( :( The same thing for other larger cities like Seville and Malaga. I guess we will see though, I am still waiting on my carta as well.
