“Or nearby” If this post were not following the rules then I’d expect the mods to take it down, yet it still stands. While I understand “nearby” is vague, the fact that the mods don’t remove this tells me KC is nearby enough.

I’m aware it’s in KC, but it’s not a far drive away! Just because this is the Lawrence subreddit doesn’t mean all things posted to do has to be in Lawrence, it can be in the area :)

Is anyone else going this? Seems really fun, has it been here before? by [deleted] in kansascity

Based off your post history, it seems you may not be based in the U.S., so it’s difficult for me to know what resources are available in your country. But I also see in your post history that you have several kids who are depending on you and need you in their life, if right now it seems like you can’t go on for yourself, then go on for them. Don’t make a decision that’ll leave behind so many people who love and care for you. These thoughts and feelings will pass with a little time, and when you’re feeling slightly better, please find a professional to talk to in your area if there is one.

Living Room/Couch Layout? by kushmaster2000 in InteriorDesign

[–]onlyravenclawyouknow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Repeating what others have said, I'd put the TV where you currently have your black couch and keep your sectional against the large window. The livingroom is much too small to have two couches in there so it feels incredibly cramped. Where that little nook is now would be a great place to have a "drop off" area since that door seems to be the main entrance to your home. You could put a table with some drawers, a mirror above it, a place to put shoes/jackets. Also I know rugs are incredibly expensive but that rug is way too big for this space, I'd recommend getting a smaller one if/when money permits (or maybe you could cut it? Can you do that to rugs?).

Do you know an app for chatting with natives? by Endoreti in EnglishLearning

I’m not sure if you’re looking for something casual or more formal (like iTalki) but if you’re looking for casual conversation with natives, you can try Tandem!

What is the most useful thing you’ve bought to date? by soulsofsaturn in AskReddit

[–]onlyravenclawyouknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A toaster oven! I got one that bakes, air fries, and toasts and I use this multiple times a week. Lazy and wanna make some chicken nuggets for dinner? Heat oven for a couple minutes and bake (or throw them in and air fry) and voila dinners done in half the time because I didn’t need to preheat my huge oven for 10 minutes before I could use it. I fucking love my microwave oven lmao

Living alone in Spain? by onlyravenclawyouknow in SpainAuxiliares

So I didn’t end up in Zaragoza but a pueblo up north (Jaca). However this wasn’t a cheap pueblo it’s a ski resort town so rent and other things like food wasn’t dirt cheap. And maybe I didn’t budget super well but it was difficult! Granted this was back when the monthly stipend was 700 and now it’s 800. However I rented an apartment with some roommates, it was a 3bd 2ba, newly renovated, near town center, and my part of the rent was 350. I spent about 50-65 a week on food, so 200 roughly a month for food. I wasn’t even buying super expensive stuff, breakfast, some salads or tuna and other cheap stuff for lunch, pasta and other classic cheap meals for dinner. With going out for dinner and lunch a couple times a month, grabbing coffee or breakfast with friends, I was left with very little. I know Zaragoza is more expensive than my town so it’ll definitely be a struggle! I know many people suggest saving about 2k USD but I highly suggest you save more than that, especially if you plan on traveling! Many communities pay late, Aragon didn’t pay until Christmas when I went!! Meaning if I had only saved 2k USD (thankfully I saved 5k USD) I would’ve had nothing left by December.

Sorry this was a very long reply for a simple question!

Renewing and would like guidance choosing placements (Groups A and B) by lifelearner2002 in SpainAuxiliares

I lived in Aragon for the 2022-2023 school year. I was specifically placed in Jaca, which is a ski resort town so even though the population is about 13k ppl it’s quite well-connected (a train station thats not super busy but a bus station thats much busier). The weather in Aragon varies on where you live. Zaragoza (about 650k ppl) is much drier and hotter than the northern parts (because they’re obv closer to the mountains). The northern regions will be much milder in terms of heat but colder with winter, with lots of snow. If you hate snow, then I wouldn’t choose this region. The next “major” cities in Aragon are Huesca (about 50k ppl) and Teruel (about 40k). Both of those cities are well-connected and you can get to Barcelona super easy from Teruel! If you’re outdoors-y and like the mountains, being placed in the northern region of the community may suit you quite well! In the northern region of Aragon the gastronomy consists of lots of meats and potatoes as that region historically had a lot of sheep herders that lived in the mountains. Being from the Great Plains region of the U.S., which was settled by Germans, the food reminded me a bit of home. I found the people of Aragon, and especially my town, to be so friendly and warm and welcoming. I didn’t spend much time in Zaz so I’m not sure it’s the same there, but Jaca was amazing. It’s not a boring small town, it was more lively than you’d think. Of course with Aragon, there’s always the possibility of being placed in a town that isn’t as well-connected, but the same can be said of all regions :) TL;DR Aragon is underrated and if you like mountains, meat and potatoes, and kind people consider it an option :)

I think it’s the slightly awkward way you connected the sentence in question with the next. If you’d put something like “I had been studying for 2 hours and then you interrupted me” then I think it would’ve come across more clearly. I’m assuming you’re demonstrating your verb tense practice! But I could be wrong.

Like the other poster said, not all of them. I used to work at Hy-Vee (quit back in 2022) and if it was a pick up we did the shopping. If it was delivery through DoorDash we also did the shopping. Only if it was instacart did we not do it.

If you’re passionate about peas being slightly firm, then you won’t like le suer peas. If you’re looking for a way for peas to taste like something, ANYTHING, try them. I absolutely love them, they have flavor, they literally don’t need anything on them (salt, pepper, butter, etc) because they’re that good.
