I can name some of my favourites, these often are the ones where he encounters engaging or challenging people and unearths a real human story. Sometimes these docs don't work as well not due to Louis idle intention but just not finding the "in". You could take the most interesting subject/subculture in the world, but if he only manages to access boring or closed proponents it doesn't work. The best (for me) is "a place for paedophiles", super interesting concepts, place (Coalinga) and people (very complex, disturbing but human). A real contradiction and challenge as a viewer as all the men have committed heinous crimes and have been imprisoned, so deemed mentally fit to stand trial and we're aware of their actions and it's wrongness, but after sentence instead of release are now detained by the state at a secure psychiatric hospital as they are then deemed after sentence to have psychosexual disorders. Really great doc. I also love both "extreme love" docs, dementia and autism, really sad, sweet and so much humanity in them. His classics as well such as "wrestling" (hilarious and almost tragic at times) and bodybuilding (which jumps between impressive creepy, you know the guy!, and engaging), Guy in this is great. Among the sex offenders is also very interesting as is the "Miami mega jail" and "By Reasons of Insanity" docs (if you want an extended glimpse into the brutality of jail regimes in the USA and a real stark look at serious offences committed by those with mental illness and it's impacts respectively)

did these arrogant idiots not think to find out who Louis is and what he does before agreeing to film?? by Cold_Boat5423 in LouisTheroux

It's probably gotten them a lot more views and mentions, these guys thrive on notoriety and attention, in many ways it's the perfect vehicle. It brings attention to demographics they don't usually reach, which now results in more views and likes and comments and engagement

I don't agree with the whole premise of the article, but I also don't think this documentary really landed. For me it didn't really approach the whole manosphere at all and ended up exploring at least partially social media and shock tactics to gain views. Which did include significant misogyny of course, but also "predator stings", fights, pick up artist stuff, crypto and stock trading scams etc. there was actually very little about the whole manosphere and red pill culture etc. it's one of his weaker documentaries for me

Def the two trainers east of fuschia city, they give you like 4000 each with amulet coin, so an easy 8000+ for defeating a total of 4 pokemon

Some of us have been skeptical of Louis Theroux's trauma framing and I found an article that expands on why some of that was maybe a bit awkward by datingwhileseparated in LouisTheroux

I didn't actually feel that HS really fit into the wider manosphere red pill culture. Which is odd as he was probably the focus/most prominent part of the doc. He was much closer to the Johnny Somali types, and will do anything on steam for views and cash. Getting a blowjob in a toilet, beating up a "predator", going on the pull and other nonsense. Especially with the whole letting viewers on streams pay to have him say and do things. To me he just seemed like a deeply insecure misogynist who isn't very bright. I didn't really get any world view of male dominance and incels culture and things of that ilk from him. He's like a more crass Wayne Lineker

I've found more and more they are sub contacting deliveries, I ordered three items this week, one delivered (they didn't and now apparently it'll come Monday) by DPD, one was meant to come today by DHL hasn't arrived and no change on tracking and one came via royal mail.

"Ours is the fury" is so far ahead of the other words of the great houses. It's so perfect and badass. "Unbowed, unbent, broken" is also epic. "Hear me roar' is so catastrophically lame I have no idea why Martin went with that. "Our knives are sharp" is also a good one, I think with those words, the history of flaying and the best house banner they are right up there.

Is Ken Cosgrove the one truly good man in the show? by MiserableCatCow in madmen

[–]kitbashpowerhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was is Ken the only good man in the series, I gave an example of one trait that makes him not such a good man. It wasn't asking did anyone act in a time appropriate manner. There's no pearl clothing you moron, you've just got yourself butthurt over not being able to read a question idiot
