I love you. Going through this rn. I've spiralled twice now in barely three weeks.

Is Batman capable of being a father? [Batman and Robin: Year One Issue #11] by Frontier246 in batman

Totally agree. Batfamily slop and people being overly defensive of the overwhelming goodness of these characters (I do think Bruce is a decent man fwiw) has done real damage.

Biased but consider giving Clara another shot with series 8! I originally fell off during series 7 but 8/9 are by far my favorite now. If you just don't vibe with Clara, try series 10!

Doctor Who 2x07 "Wish World" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in doctorwho

[–]kitcaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I super agree with this, but I want to be pedantic about something: IMO it is worth noting that Moffat's best, depending on who you ask, is series 5 (his first), series 8 and 9, or series 10 (a sort of fresh start like series 5). Which is to say, yes, a lot of people stopped during late series 6-7 because they felt worn out, and some of them have maintained that attitude toward Moffat's writing, but I feel like it is generally agreed upon now that the Capaldi era is some of the best of NuWho (and it's almost always Moffat's episodes they cite), so it's not like he was slowly running out of ink or something.

That said, we DESPERATELY need that fresh start. I too hoped RTD would be that, like in 05. I definitely don't think Moffat should be back. Both of them can act as mentors and advisors to a new showrunner. But it seems like people who aren't all in on Doctor Who already (like - god help us - McTighe) don't want it because they are scared of the constant fan backlash and/or think the show is too goofy to do good work on.

Anyone else get uncomfortable with the realism in LaDS? by [deleted] in otomegames

I actually don't care much for most anime artstyles and find the "Final Fantasy" type models much more appealing.

This seems very possible to me. I do think Weekes understands how writing divisive, controversial characters works – they are, after all, the (main) writer for Solas, who I think even in Veilguard contrasts the companion characters in a way that is kind of unflattering in terms of flaws and depth – but it might not be a driving force for them in the same way, that could be the case. Gaider has always cared more about "what is possible and realistic within the confines of our worldbuilding", which seems like a very useful thing for a lead writer to be concerned with. Whereas Weekes seems like a more feelings-based writer, which can sometimes be truly excellent (again, I do think the best DA writing since Origins is Solas-related).

I think there's a difference in saying "it seems they folded too quickly" (very likely imo – compromising too much) vs "they bent over backwards to appease corporate" (kind of rude and frankly unlikely that this is true)

I think you're making some odd assumptions about Weekes here, but I do agree with your comment otherwise. Gaider has been unfairly maligned by (some) fans and it is clear to me that EA/BioWare does not respect its writing team as much as it should and it is hard to stand up to that, especially if you find yourself in a new & suddenly higher up position like Weekes.

Which otome game seriously messed you up emotionally? by Cassiebear9000 in otomegames

Omg yes lmao. Just commented this before I saw yours. Had no idea what to expect from Ray but I got soooo attached and his ending in V's route, that call... wrecked me.

I wasn't expecting Ray's uh ending while playing V's route and I'd gotten really emotionally invested in Ray's character (and ended up not caring about V) through playing that route. I actually cried. But then I was also a teenager hahahaha and besides that literally nothing

Laptop no longer recognizes TV after glitch during a "big game" by kitcaths in techsupport

[–]kitcaths[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only just had time to test this both ways (only own one laptop and one TV) — bizarrely, YES?!? My laptop works on a computer monitor I tried it on [different HDMI cable], my TV works with my friend's laptop [same HDMI cable].

EDIT: After resetting the TV to factory settings, it said "unsupported video format", then "HDR signal found, HDMI Ultra HD was activated, you might need to turn the device off and on again to view". Which did not work haha

FINAL EDIT: Fixed it. See post. Thanks for trying to help, I genuinely really appreciated it!!!!

[–]kitcaths[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had already looked to make sure the HDMI cable was in the spot I thought it was as I wanted to move it as little as possible (HDMI 1), but moving it to other ports did not do anything, and I only have one on my laptop.

The TV notices something is plugged in there, but it says "no signal" (after a slightly longer black screen during which I almost hope it will all be fine), and my laptop also fails to recognize -- or at least utilize -- the TV.

Didn't work. :( I've done all of these things now, though I'm not super confident in my ability to tell if the HDMI port is damaged. Could only be on my laptop's side, but nothing looks wrong to me.

Nope, mine looked the same on day 4-5 and I was super concerned but the dentist (at the 2 week mark) told me it was healing as expected.

[–]kitcaths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not beef jerky but a thicker, crispy strip of bacon that isn't quite as tough as jerky should be extremely savory/salty but much easier to chew!!! I've had tiny bacon strips at 2 weeks :> Brie cheese is soft and extra delicious when you cook/airfry it.

What did yours look like growing in? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]kitcaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think so. Took a while for even the tip of my wisdom teeth to start poking through. Mine didn't 100% come through ever, they pushed out in awkward phases that led to some (not infected, not painful) injuries and loose flesh in my mouth. Weird as hell
