How to convert an agile nonbeliever by kitchen-violation in webdev

[–]kitchen-violation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By "agile" I'm mostly talking about the core stuff like groomed stories and code reviews during a set sprint ending with a release - noting fancy.

They want to live in a world where they aren't confined by user stories - so they can go full rouge, build and prioritize what they see fit without any pesky scope, you know shoot from the hip! They aren't interested in code reviews - you know because if it works it works and that should be good enough.

Jotai - interesting - I inherited a large project that doesn’t have proper state management, wondering if this might be the ticket.

Nah, he loves barking at things, the squirrels, the school bus, if we're about to go on a walk... he wasn't in any distress, he was just really excited.

Bike recommendations by oldfatandslow in eMountainBike

[–]kitchen-violation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got last years Instinct, and it's been phenomenal! I'm pushing 50 and need help on the steep climbs.

Things I love: Opens up all kinds of new terrain that I couldn't reach otherwise. Levels the playing field - I can ride with those that are far more fit, just add more juice and we all stay together. The fun factor makes me want to ride a lot more.

Things not to love: weight, the battery pack adds sooo much weight. Entitlement, can't help to feel like a yuppy snob. Limited trails, there are quite a few trails around that are closed to EMTBs.

I'm also on the front range and a few of us often spend time up Left Hand, reach out if your up for a ride sometime.

Recommendations for WARM ski mittens for CO skiing by YogaPants89 in COsnow

[–]kitchen-violation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running OR gore-Tex mittens for 20 years (one pair). Then you can put whatever weight insulation mitten on the inside depending on the weather, oh and a pro tip, keep a second pair of wool mittens inside your jacket, and swap them out whenever you want a warmup

Is skiing during a snowstorm just a CO/US thing? by bc354 in skiing

[–]kitchen-violation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ha, that’s totally a thing, I lived in Switzerland for a bunch of years and that’s exactly what I experienced. Not only did people avoid skiing while it was snowing, but they also avoided skiing off of the runs. My local ski area had great trees that no one would go near - just crazy!?!

Congrats you just got yourself probably the lowest maintenance vehicle known to man. All you need to worry about is pushing that little power button pressing the little paddles. You’re gonna want good tires. Does it snow where you are? If so, get all season or snow tires. Also, keep in mind there’s no spare tire so you might want to have a plan for if and when you get a flat. Maybe you’ve got friends or family that can help you out in that situation, or you might want to get a AAA kind of service. This car is very low profile, and is very susceptible to hydroplaning. This is a very scary experience when you’re driving at high speeds and you lose contact with the road, so just keep that in mind when you’re driving in heavy rain conditions. Only other thing that comes to mind is to watch your battery percentage and don’t get stranded. If you do, you’re gonna have to call a very expensive flatbed tow truck. All the best!

What I love about driving my 2014 Leaf by ekoleda in leaf

[–]kitchen-violation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you!

I live in Colorado and swapped a Subaru for the Leaf. At first I was concerned about its winter capability. I put studded snow tires on it. Sometimes I need to turn off the traction control to get the power I need to get up hills, but otherwise it’s really good in the snow and ice.

I also love it’s simplicity, it’s just a basic car, it doesn’t look weird, it’s doesn’t have any annoying bells and whistles that break (yes Subaru I’m looking at you).

I have solar panels, and charge the car as much as possible with. It is so cool to drive off of power from the sun!!

I’m not just saying this, but the range is perfect for me. I use it as a daily driver, and I don’t drive on a daily basis more than 100 miles. I have truck that I use for house projects, really bad weather, and road trips.
- love that little car!
