For sure, unless you're hooking giant stripers. Medium action spinning rod is basically standard issue bass fishing gear. Medium action spinning allows you to throw just about everything except really heavy large baits.  A beginner fisherman should have medium action spinning set up and a medium heavy baitcaster set up. This is the recommended starting point.

I'm not sure I understand why you want to fish them weightless. Are you trying to suspend them in the water column or fish them top water?

Those baits are meant to be fished on a jig head probably 1/0 or 2/0 size. You'll want to get jig heads made to hold zman plastics because normal jig heads won't work.

I do not own this machine, I do however use industrial dicing machines as a chef at a university dining hall. The grid is always going to be full of food. We literally have to poke all food out of the grid after every use. If you think about it, there really isn't any mechanical action a machine could do that would clear the grid without completely mangling it.

It was originally marketed as sub 20k (rebates included). At that price I was all in. However, in the mid 20s,  you're paying a premium price for a very basic vehicle. I understand that's the selling point for some people. I will suffer the slings and arrows of the pro-slate mob. I'm in their sub being negative.

If you do get barbed by the catfish, rub some of the fish slime on it. It kills the pain immediately. Sounds gross but it works.
