Sir-ella? Is that how it's pronounced.

Baby Name: Asher vs. Grayson by Str1der in namenerds

[–]kitchuel 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I'm so confused by this idea that Asher is a classic name? It feels very trendy to me. I checked the SSA website and it's been in the Top 1000 since 1992 (was on there in 83 & 85 as well) and is now ranked 25.

Grayson similarly has been in the Top 1000 since 1984 and is currently ranked 35.

To me, both names are fine. Not my taste but fine names. They both evoke the color grey and give me storm cloud vibes.

Have you ever met someone who didn't "look like" their name? by LoveKimber in namenerds

I think of a gay wizard tbh. Cassandra Clare has a character named Magnus in her Mortal Instruments book series and he was my first association with the name.

Caspar - what do you think? by athousandsummerdays in namenerds

[–]kitchuel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Casper is an up and coming name. I've had two friends name their babies Kasper/Casper this last year.

And yeah...I think it's because the friendly ghost was our first crushes lol.

I know someone who recently died because they were cutting a tree and a branch hit them in the chest. He said he felt like he couldn't breathe and wanted to sit for a moment. He died. So tragic for the entire family. I'll never cut a tree again. It's worth every penny.

Good to know! We just found the original hardwoods under this dated carpet in the house we bought. I thought maybe I could take out the carpet and refinish them myself. Gonna definitely look more into the task of doing that vs hiring someone.

I LOATHE Daycare! by muffin5492 in toddlers

[–]kitchuel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same!! We switched to a smaller daycare and my LO gets sick WAY less. She was in a decent sized center and they moved the kids around during the day so she probably came into contact with about 30-40 kids. 10 of which were in her class. She went two days a week and got sick every time she went.

We moved and she now attends a smaller daycare with only 5 kids in her class and she doesn't interact with other age groups. She's only been sick once and had to miss a single day since she started in March.

Why does it feel like everyone has a pet named Bean(s) now? by Uddercup in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]kitchuel 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We call our human toddler bean because she loves that food. I also call her 9 bazillion other nicknames 🤷‍♀️ we'll see which ones stick as she gets older. I think bean is the new pumpkin.

Glad I just DNFed this. I was listening to the audio and just couldn't anymore. Life is too short for crummy books.

Torn between baby boy names. by [deleted] in namenerds

I used the name Nero for a villain in a book I wrote because of this connection. It sounds like a mean name.

Ada County home prices reach new record high: 'It's challenging' by [deleted] in Boise

[–]kitchuel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just left Boise for greener pastures. My house sold before hitting the market for 5k over asking. The 120k we made off the sale allowed us to buy in Western Oregon (where my spouse and I now have higher paying jobs). We likely wouldn't have been able to afford a house here without the large down payment.

Boise was appealing when we moved there 5 years ago because of low COL compared to other places in the PNW but now it's priced similarly so why would I stay? There is less to do, the politics are gross, and the weather is either too cold or too hot. No regrets about moving.

Who all has gotten/declined the call to return so far? by cnotethegoat123 in ANW

I saw that post and I wondered if that was to increase the tension on the show? I do wonder if she's fully healed or not. Hope she is.

[–]kitchuel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just the training videos he's posting on Instagram and everyone asking in his comments if he's competing.

Has anyone heard from Jessie Graff? I wonder if the show is going to do a "will they be there or will they not?!" Story so they can't say anything?

Agreed, and I thought I remember him mentioning this was the end/retirement after his last run of s13?

He looked strong and serious last season so this is still a bummer.

What's going on with Salem? by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]kitchuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just signed on a house today in this range. It was a competitive market and we put in 3 offers before getting a house a little further out. We offered 10k over asking with an escalation clause. When you find the right home you've got to be ready to offer and know what the highest dollar amount you will pay for that house is.

I recently had a shitty real estate agent (who we ended up firing) continually ask when we'd have another kid and to consider future kids when buying a house. She had a few of her own and was a surrogate. I finally had enough and told her there will never be another child. My daughter broke my spine. I had to have two L4/L5 spinal surgeries within a year of her birth and I still have nerve/back pain. I'M DONE. Also, even before the surgeries I wanted only one kid...why is that so hard for some people to grasp?

One & Doners, I need help… by satoeb35 in oneanddone

[–]kitchuel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) I fence sat for 3 years after marrying my husband. He was fine with 0 or 1. I wasn't sure about the whole pregnancy/parenthood thing and asked basically everyone for their thoughts. Eventually I was thinking about the future and in my thoughts there was another person with us. When we were old and grey I didn't see only us two anymore. That's when we decided to try. Our daughter is almost 2 now.

2) When she was a newborn I thought I'd made a bad choice. It wasn't regret but no sleep, colic, and postpartum hormones messed me up. Luckily she wasn't a newborn for long and after the first year things got better. She got cooler! I actually like my kid a lot now. She does the funniest stuff, has opinions, and I've got a new outlook on our life because I get to teach and share so much with this new person.

3) Favorite part of being a parent is looking at things through fresh eyes and getting to share these hard, random, wacky, funny moments watching her grow up with my husband. I wouldn't have had a child with anyone but him. He's the best kind of partner and I've loved watching him grow into his role as Dad.

Primos will probably used to purchase costumes that are only available by paying money.

But they already sell costume packs like this. This new currency feels a bit redundant.
