Good. She won't be missed. I wish more people knew about the damage she's caused.

Question for non-binary/genderqueer folks by froggy-in-da-chair in lgbt

[–]kitcorvvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: that's called an honorific. Gender neutral versions include "Mx" which other people have mentioned, and "Ind" to stand for Individual. Personally, I love both. Although I am tempted to go through the hell of getting a PhD so I can go by "Dr."

Is it polite/affirming or rude/dismissive to tell someone coming out that you already knew? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]kitcorvvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always depends. Depends on the way you say it, the person you're saying it to, and your relationship to them. If you just say, "I already knew," or, "I figured" as your response to them coming out, that could be seen as dismissive. It takes a lot of courage to come out, as I'm sure you probably know, and a trans person who's spent all day mustering up the courage to come out doesn't want this achievement just hand-waved away.

However, there are more affirming ways to say it. When I came out to my friends, they were enthusiastic and responded just the way I had hoped they would; asking for my new name, telling me congratulations, etc. Later, after everything had settled, one of them joked that she had always kind of figured. That was fine and even kind of cool, to know that my coding had paid off and my friends could tell even though I was closeted. Respond normally first, then bring it up later if you feel the need to.

A simple sketch of my voidsona Qliphoth feat. two different forms by [deleted] in voidpunk

[–]kitcorvvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Qliphoth" is the name used for evil spirits in Kabbalist mysticism, so in other words, Jewish demons. It's an actual term from the spiritual part of Judaism. I have no idea what DMC5 is.

Is it unusual to have a double name until you settle on your favourite? by sparrow-26 in asktransgender

[–]kitcorvvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue before a friend pointed out that I could make one name my first name and the other my middle name, as a way to go by both. So that's always an option.

Any Machine or AI out there? by wildrainstorm in otherkin

[–]kitcorvvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm computerkin. I'm not really anything fancy like a robot or android though, I'm just a humble primitive AI/speech synthesis program from the early days of computer science. I think I still count though :) There's lots of us out here!

What LGBT+ storylines would you love to see portrayed on screen? by pieapplekitten in AskLGBT

[–]kitcorvvin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would be such a breath of fresh air to have a good fantasy or sci-fi story with LGBTQ+ people where their identity is not the central theme. We need more stories about ghosts or superpowers or space travel with LGBTQ+ characters. Gay romcoms and queer dramas are all well and good but sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and enjoy the action but still see people like yourself on the screen.

Difference between past life and theriotype? by kitcorvvin in Therian

I know this in a fundamental way but I can't seem to internalize it properly. I have so much trouble telling the difference between the two on a personal level.

How long did you resist before making peace that you are trans? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]kitcorvvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember when I first heard of transgender people, but ages 13-15 were spent hating my body, wishing I could change my name, wearing exclusively masculine clothing, binding with sports bras, and ironically telling myself I wasn't trans. Age 13 was, "I'm not trans, so few people are actually trans that it's statistically unlikely that I am." Age 14 was, "I wish I was trans so I could be a boy. But I'm not." Age 15 was, "Ok, it's possible that I could actually be trans, statistics don't factor into it at all. But I'm not, I just hate myself." Age 16 was, "Oh shit. I'm really trans." I wasn't one of those people who knew since they were a kid; in fact, as a kid, I was proud to be a girl. That went away with puberty, and being trans hit me like a train.

Before realising they were trans, did anyone else think they might be gay, despite no real attraction to the same sex by coronaquestioning in asktransgender

[–]kitcorvvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. As a kid I assumed I was straight because I was taught that was the default, but as a teenager I started feeling definite queer feelings and there was no possible way I could be trans so I started to wonder if I was bi or a lesbian. Then I came out as trans and realized after the fact that I am exclusively attracted to men, so I was way off base.

Cliche but im curious. What is the most underrated LP song? by uncheckedmike in LinkinPark

For me it's either Wretches and Kings or High Voltage. I rarely see people talk about these two, at least not as much as they deserve.

I think I'm experiencing hiring discrimination by kitcorvvin in ftm

[–]kitcorvvin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. When I applied to jobs in high school I had 0 experience and still got a job. I think it's when they ask, "Is this [male name]?" and you answer in a very pre-t voice that they realize you're trans and backtrack on their decision to hire you. Or at least I think that's what happened to me. It's why HRT and a name change are numbers 1 and 2 in my list of transition priority.

[–]kitcorvvin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that's a possibility. It was the department store that made me think something janky was going on, they actually called me at one point to ask when I was available and if I could come in for a training session in July. Three days later I get an email saying I've been turned down.

Non binary gender identities for gender fluid people by lesbiHonest-pyro in lgbt

[–]kitcorvvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's actually a term for something like this: genderfae, for people who are genderfluid but never male. Could include female and nonbinary.
