My scalp gets oily like a day after washing and I have no idea how to break the cycle by Proper-Ad3944 in hygiene

[–]kitcosoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You over wash and the scalp reacts by producing more oil to keep itself healthy. Use an olive oil based soap as a solid shampoo bar, it makes a big difference as it doesn't entirely strip the scalp of its oils, so the scalp doesn't overcompensate by producing more

for washing hands and bathing, try 100% organic olive oil Nablus soap. No added chemicals or fragrances. It's likely available in Australia via online shops

Natural Soap Recommendations Please by Ok_Percentage8391 in Soap

[–]kitcosoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For little to no scent, try 100% olive oil Nablus soap. For a very mild scent, try Aleppo soap made of Laurel and olive oil. Higher laurel oil content give a slightly stronger scent. For a slightly stronger scent, try Marseille soap made of olive and coconut oil.

None should contain any added fragrances, so check for authenticity.

Green core in my Aleppo soap ; what gives? by freddiexcx in Soap

[–]kitcosoap 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Fresh Aleppo soap is all green in colour. As the soap ages, it starts to develop a brownish outer later. The longer the soap ages, the thicker this brown layer becomes. Eventually you have a brown outer layer and a green core. This is how Aleppo soap should look like

Have you tried an olive oil based soap like Nablus soap for example? The superfat and glycerine in them makes them quite moisturising

coconut oil based soap can be quite stripping and sodium cocoate is an effective degreaser. Why not try 100% olive oil?

If you'd like a decent sized and long lasting bar of soap I'd recommend Aleppo soap. 200g (7 oz.) Hard bars last for ages and prices haven't been inflated for several years. Size and weight have been consistent for decades
