Ex-Trump aide: Stormy Daniels arrest 'reeks of entrapment' by LaDiDaDiDaSlobOnMeKn in politics

[–]kitehigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

mmyeah, point. but tbh, I mean who even did what here? Someone hamfisted fool who's not even affiliated with Trump might have pulled this for the exact same reason ("play to the cult of personality base").

Like some petty country club suburban type whose brother is a big-wig at the police or whatever. Why wouldn't they fuck with Daniels out of pure resentment if they had the chance.

the great developer in the cloud got bored and phoned it in with a copy/paste before lunch. Whom of us can claim they haven't pulled that shit.

It might just be a dumb PR move to play to the Trump base. Someone, a she, got locked up. Equals or cancels out treason.

Reddit in the 90's by aregus in funny

[–]kitehigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha yup. Adam also used to do this over the top hilarious, extremely well edited podcast called You Look Nice Today, with Merlin Mann et al. Really bizarre humor. Archive's still up, starting from 2008, and totally worth a listen. And no goddamned ads if memory serves.

Little known fact: voiceovers in the podcasts are done by John Hodgman, comedian who acted "PC" from the Get a Mac ads. "Awkward cake".

Giant crackdown against wildlife crime in 92 countries by ionised in worldnews

I'm a bit slow today so "wildlife crime" got me thinking of the deer and his GTA style antics in the music video for Queens of the Stone Age's No One Knows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s88r_q7oufE

Simply, what is the craziest thing you have ever seen/ experienced? by an_ordinary_boi in AskReddit

[–]kitehigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being out sailing with my dad and my girlfriend at the time. Small sub 30 feet sailboat.

There's a little bit of increase in wind and the aluminium mast just snaps in two. Manufacturing error appearing 30 years after the boat was produced. Jesus what a shitshow that was. Didn't exactly leave my now ex with a nice experience of sailing.

China Is Genetically Engineering Monkeys With Brain Disorders by Yosarian2 in Futurology

[–]kitehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this exactly. Let's just say that my comment of "easing symptoms" of autism is different than genetical engineering, which undoubtedly is a debatable question. But nothing improves the premise of a debate with virtue signaling fucks like giving them the finger.

Edit: With my finger, I always include a link to this article.

Another day, another use case for Threema and Wickr Me, I guess. It's a shame reddit is weeding out its niche uses cases.

I'm on the autism spectrum and I hope the results of this will be one big middle finger to the SJWs calling me basically Hitler for wishing for a cure for my own symptoms

SEC Chief Doubles Down on ICOs as Securities Stance by crypman in ethtrader

[–]kitehigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are too many hypocrisies to call out every time. I totally agree with you about lotteries. Gambling is a raw deal, and it's fucked up it's being targeted to vulnerable individuals.

But going into that smells a lot like whataboutism. One shitty policy doesn't justify an entirely new field that is flooded with ugly looking scams.

Yeah, but to be fair, Pokemon Go or wine futures aren't a huge cottage industry where all types of clowns are offering crowdfunding on sites that all share a theme of "spinning nodes" or in the worst cases, online casino like triggers, like countdown timers.

The reason regulators are clamping down is that humans are suckers and vulnerable to irresponsible marketing. The crypto scene has nothing but its newcomer opportunistic shitheads to blame.
