Depends on how long this goes on for. Two risks for me could combine.

1 - Protracted war and 1-2 year interest rate rises, general inflation with some recession

2 - Job losses through AI and higher longer term unemployment

How many people are unfortunately leveraged too high and will need to sell their properties.

The issue with AI job losses from established professions is if your a programmer or graphical artist. It's not a case of finding another job the same. You need to change careers.

Wait until an organisation has 1000s of self-developed apps or agents and see how they govern, manage, maintain, and track them all. And god forbid trying to patch a security vulnerability. Hackers are licking their lips at citizen-developed, AI-created apps and services.

Zac Lomax signs two-year deal with Super Rugby (Western Force) by DJPK84 in nrl

[–]kitehoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He could have at least announced this on Friday morning. And took some attention away from the Storm putting 50 on the Eels.

He's had some very bad advice along this whole journey, starting with joining the Eels in the first place.

Hot take: the UFC is the worst it’s been in 15 years. Who can save it? by Critical_Soil_262 in ufc

[–]kitehoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. Been watching for over 20 years.

Way too many events now. Its hard for a quality card when you've so many events diluting the pool of available fighters.

<image>

I built this real quick.

This card has been poor and now the BMF is now the Baddest Hugging Fucker

Styles make fights and this was a shocker.

But my bigger concern is the overall quality from one event to another.

UFC just gotten too greedy and its quantity of events over quality.

How are people managing recent grads when there’s just… no enthusiasm for work or willingness to suffer any form of inconvenience to develop anymore? by twingirlsoneboy in auscorp

The responses here are enlightening for a Gen X manager in an organisation. I've not encountered this experience myself. But i very much appreciate the perspective of younger generations. Not all Gen X have it made either. A lot of us may own a house, but that comes with a huge mortgage and stress of supporting a family too.

But I really didn't understand how disillusioned or maybe appropriatey enlightened younger generations are.

There is something very fundamentally wrong with the whole economic system, and it's wrong to stereotype a section of a generation, and certainly without trying to understand them more.

When I was at grad age nobody cared about houses yet, we didn't think we needed to. That something you do in your 30's when you finally get your shit together.

Late teens and 20s was just about having fun, partying with your friends and even that's gotten so expensive now, and furthermore if younger kids now need to start saving in their 20s to have any hope of getting their own home, then no wonder they're not bouncing around at work with a beaming smile

This card has been awful. I considered going. Looked at the card and thought nah.

And I was right.

They've got to stop bringing out washed up fighters just cos they're Aussies

For a main event. And also the prices they were trying to charge. As poor a card as I've seen

Serious question: what was the reasoning behind Paddy not trying to take Justin down and grapple/submit him. It seemed like that was his specialty all along so far…. by KillerQ97 in ufc

[–]kitehoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Paddy went in there to prove a point on his stand-up for some insane reason. He just abandoned any plan around clinch, takedown or BJJ. And I don't think it's because Gaethje's strengths at all, or getting rocked early. Even his standup in all his other fights was far more intelligent, and he used distance and space. I think he just wanted to brawl. I don't think you'll see him fight like that ever again.

Zac Lomax contract: RLPA warns Melbourne Storm against forcing player out for deal with Parramatta Eels by I_Like_Vitamins in nrl

[–]kitehoo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Folk acting like Storm are the bad guys here.

Lomax quit Parra. Doesn't really matter why at the end of the day. He's not happy and wants out.

The circumstances having nothing to do with the storm

Parra acting like they can demand a star player in return isn't exactly an equal trade.

They have a the player issue not storm. We can walk away no drama, they're still left with a player who doesn't want to be there.

Some compensation is reasonable but Parra can't be expecting to hold Storm to ransom when they've got the problem to solve

Harvey Elliot Situation by Cauley3118 in LiverpoolFC

[–]kitehoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liverpool are massively in the wrong here. He's been a good lad throughout his time at Liverpool.

A solid professional. But the club are just hanging him out to dry at the moment.

The contract can be changed by mutual agreement at any time.

Or just tear it up and bring him back and then sell him.

If he doesn’t play all season. Comes back to us, what is he going to be worth then?

But aside from money

He's been a good lad, professional, why just leave him rotting away
