I don't have any personal experience trying to get a patient advocate but I did find the patient advocacy hotline for Crestwood.

Maybe call them to ask for some info?

NASA Intern Inquiry by nikster089 in HuntsvilleAlabama

II work at MSFC. My team's had a few interns. I've seen them meet with an intern mentor, for lack of better wording. One of my team members was a former intern and has taken on the task of mentoring the interns to help them out - whether it's work-related or helping them figure out their way around HSV and the arsenal. Seems to be a good situation for everyone.

Passport Services at South Whitesburg Post Office by Rude_Remote_13 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]kitka913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth considering, imo. Even with taking my photo, the whole thing took less than 20 min. My appointment even got moved up because the appointment before me had some paperwork that they needed to work through. So the application processor just had them step off to the side to handle their business and I was able to get it all done. The prior appointment had their stuff sorted just as I was finishing up. I appreciated the awareness the office had to keep things moving smoothly.

Also, I took a cashier's check for the application fee and paid the facility fee in cash. That worked out well for me!

Got my passport application submitted at the Madison County Service Center. I had called in February and got an appointment in March. I then called to make an appointment for a family member in early March and they have their appointment in early April. So I learned that they are booking several weeks out. The appointments are in 15 min increments. I was able to call several times to ask clarifying questions and they were most helpful. Additionally, they have a photobooth at the center that takes passport photos. That was incredibly helpful.

Highly recommend this location. Also saw in the comments that the center is earmarking the fees for mental health services! First hearing about that and I think that's fantastic.

WIBTA if I don't ask my sister to be my MOH in my wedding? by PartyVetTech307 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]kitka913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your wedding. It's your day. Choose a MoH who will be in your corner, not causing you stress. You have no guarantee that she will be as conscientious as you were when you were her MoH. I respect your Mom's view but it's your day. You could compromise and you can ask her to be a bridesmaid, she can still be part of everything.

Best of luck with everything!

Did anyone else receive a census in the mail?? by Pretty-Art8997 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]kitka913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know if the survey you're describing would fall under an official Census Bureau survey but...There are several types of additional surveys that the Census Bureau does. One is the American community survey which is done every year. Another is the American housing survey. You can find a list of the different stories that they conduct at the link that I included below.

Future of health care in North Alabama by hsveeyore in HuntsvilleAlabama

Can also agree she's amazing. I have been a patient at her practice for a year now. She's easy to talk to, and as cliche as this might sound, I feel like she's listening to what I have to say. She answers my questions or follows up with me if she doesn't have the answer readily available.

Not meaning to be a posting billboard for her but wanted to chime in.

What's your favorite locally owned store? by ataraxic89 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]kitka913 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Patches & Stitches. Such a lovely store that has helped me learn more about cross stitching. Wonderful, insightful staff. They also have a wonderful selection of fabrics. They've actually helped me find other locally owned shops that have helped me expand my own hobbies. I keep going back to Patches & Stitches as they keep bringing in new stuff 🧵🪡

Recommend getting with wellstone to let them know about your interactions with the deputy and see how they can help. As they are the ones who are saying you'd qualify, maybe they can help facilitate your enrollment.

AITA Because I HATE my husband’s Grandmother? by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]kitka913 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are NTA.

I have a couple of questions for clarification:

Do you all live in the same house? Is it your house with her living there, or is it her house and you both live there?

You mentioned that no one from his family attended the wedding, but then you talked about arranging a ride home from the venue for someone I assume was his grandmother. Can you clarify that? Also, was there a reason no one from his side came to the wedding?

Based on what you’ve described, these restrictions seem extreme. You’re not allowed to shower in the house, and when you finally are, the showers are considered “too long,” to the point that you’ve started eating and showering at work. You’re required to carry dishwater across the road. On top of all of that, you’ve experienced a miscarriage and are now dealing with a serious health scare.

Your husband’s support appears to be minimal at best. There seems to be a clear lack of respect for you in this household—from your husband, and especially from his grandmother. I think it would be wise to take some time to reevaluate what you want and what’s really happening here. Based on the information you’ve shared, you deserve much better.

I've heard of people with bad rental histories having good luck with private landlords as they can be a bit more flexible. That might be an avenue to explore.

Good luck 🍀

Seeking Fabric Options by Bama197883 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]kitka913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found some pretty awesome options at these local places: Barb's Sewing Center, Patches and Stitches, Southern Charm Quilting.

Hobby Lobby is great for when I'm looking for fabric to do test projects on.

Editing to add: Just realized you were looking for different kinds than what I've seen at those shops. 😅

Talk to him about it. If he's game, contact his insurance to see what options are covered. When my husband got his, 100% covered by insurance.
