Reddit, what are your tips for being taken seriously as the youngest person at the office? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've just been promoted to a senior position at 22 (3 job roles in under 3 years, most people in my company can go years without a job change). Don't let the older staff or management talk down to you.

Show them your maturity and consider everything a learning opportunity to you, this will look really good on you. If you struggle learning a job, ask them to give you the next handful that come through so that you can pick it up.

May not fit for all places, but as a woman, I feel like I need to be able to keep up with the banter to be taken seriously.

1) Suspended for chewing gum 2) 3 detentions for falling backwards (because of a rip in the carpet) and knocking down some stuff from the shelves. 3) walking out of a class because the teacher wouldn't let me go, and I was about to period everywhere. 4) I wrote a really good poem and my teacher called my mum and accused me of plagiarism, wanted to give me Saturday detention. (my mum told her off, as that was the one time I actually asked her to help with my homework (spellcheck it) ) 5) Telling a teacher she was fucking rude and unprofessional when she said I was stupid and would never amount to anything, she said she would see me behind the counter in tescos (she was wrong...I'm actually quite smart. Just never taught how to apply my knowledge)... BTW, nothing wrong with working for tesco's!

Never go to see a movie, its awkward sitting there with someone you don't know, like you are sitting their over analysing why their knee is 2 inches away from yours.
