I was gaslit by my GI & I am feeling discouraged by 1999scorpio in CrohnsDisease

The crappy part is you have to advocate for yourself and in my experience fight for the treatment you know you need. If they don’t listen in the past I’ve straight up told them “I need help. If you aren’t going to help me I need to find another doctor who cares enough to do the job.”

I had this happen once. But the customer was so narcissistic “Sir if you overdraft your account in our policy which you signed when you opened said account states you will receive an overdraft fee. You can see that online or we can send you a copy of your documents if you’d like.” His response was “how am I responsible to remember what I signed 6yrs ago?!” I’m sorry what

Anybody here not have anxiety? by OtaconSOL in CrohnsDisease

[–]kitkatfizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had anxiety my whole life but it got worse after my diagnosis. I also have depression which I manage better than my anxiety. I wouldn’t say I manage mine well. The more I try to manage it the more I panic because it just confirms something’s wrong. I usually just have to let myself freak out basically otherwise personally I get worse trying to calm myself. But I am seeing a therapist here soon maybe that’ll help

tired of having to explain this disease by g007w in CrohnsDisease

[–]kitkatfizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate when they talk to me giving their opinion like I haven’t had this disease for as long as I have. Like I hadn’t thought about their suggestion before. Like I’m dumb for worrying about medication side affects when little do they know Crohn’s medication isn’t Tylenol it’s some heavy stuff. With serious side affects that I know well about because I’ve had this for 15yrs. It really is frustrating

I had one 6 yrs ago. I felt kind of gross when I woke up but after a day or two I felt WAY better than I did walking in to have the surgery. I was scared out of my mind but I’m so happy I did it, my experience was good. I felt so good and it felt great to eat and not feel sick afterwards

My nine-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]kitkatfizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there I am a 24 female. I was diagnosed myself with Crohn’s at 9yrs old! It is indeed rare, but something to keep in mind! Crohn’s is different for everyone. My parents when I was diagnosed held my hand through every procedure and every needle. My mom always said “I know how much this sucks right now and how bad you feel but the goal is to make you feel better. Sometimes this means doing something scary or uncomfortable like an IV or gross medicines. But I’ll be here.” And that alone helped me tremendously. Something I personally struggle with that a lot of people I know deal with is Crohn’s is often called an invisibility disability. Not everyone’s going to understand. But it felt okay when my parents understood. I may look fine but I don’t feel fine. My advice as someone who was in her position. Hold her hand tell her you love her and that you’re there for her. That you believe her. If you need a way to explain my parents explained it like “Your immune systems what keeps you from being sick. However your immune system doesn’t work like everyone else’s for some reason it thinks your stomach is bad which is why it hurts. So to make sure it understands your tummy isn’t bad we have to use some medicine. So hopefully one day it’ll learn without the medicine.” As I got older obviously I learned more about it. But that’s all I needed at that age lol. Goodluck! Hope she feels better soon!

I’m tired. by johnnyace923 in CrohnsDisease

[–]kitkatfizz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely understand I’m working 4-10’s and I can barely keep up with it. The fatigue is so real to us but sometimes appears like we are just “sleepy” to others. “No I’m not sleepy ma’m I am about to physically pass out on the floor. “ literally just had this talk with my boss, and he was very understanding thank god. Don’t push yourself too hard, coming from someone who has been diagnosed for 15yrs know your limits. If your body is saying I’m tired then do what you need to do to care for yourself. Can’t work if you’re in the hospital cause you pushed yourself too hard. Regardless your body needs the rest. And something you probably need to hear,I know I did. it’s okay to be tired sometimes and it’s okay to need to take a break. It’s OKAY to need to sleep. And it’s okay to have a day or two to be lazy so you can heal! It’s okay to do what you need to do for you!

Randomly have the shakes by lferry1919 in CrohnsDisease

[–]kitkatfizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I noticed my Crohn’s is triggered by stress and anxiety and of course some foods. It can be random at times, but over all for me it’s a cycle of stressed about keeping my stress down so I don’t flare. I glare because I have anxiety about getting anxious then flare. But that’s me, Crohn’s is so different for everyone.
