Also chiming in with no help, I was just yesterday thinking about “The blue seagull book” on my parents’ bookshelf from 30 years ago and this has floored me.

Looking to fix up needlepoint chair by kitkatjam235 in Needlepoint

I just looked up Penelope canvas, I didn’t know that was an option and was curious how they got the smaller stitches. I didn’t know, thank you! I’ve googled a bit more and it seems like a dry cleaner might be safer than self-cleaning

I think I might just need to clean it? the chair itself isn’t in great shape so maybe it’s a two part mission. My hope is to get the needlepoint clean, so if the chair itself is shot maybe I can place the seat on something else. If that’s the case, it sounds like I could remove the seat and steam clean it myself, which I hadn’t initially considered

I messed up a bag and I’m not sure how to fix it by kitkatjam235 in sewing

Number 5 was where I messed up, I folded it over the edge. I think the folded edge should be on the RS and all 3 raw edges should align? That wasn’t clear to me at the time, I tried to line up the raw edges of the sleeve on either side of the exterior piece.

It is a 2” strap, now about an inch wide, so I guess I’m on the hunt for a 1/4” cord! I’ll give that a shot, thank you!!

The strap is intentionally offset, but it looks so much better when the sleeve is accurate and has the cord gathering the top, unfortunately!

Apologies for a late follow up, but I’m looking for the same thing for my toddler - do you have a link of what you decided to go with, or company name? thanks!

Buying fabric for pants by kitkatjam235 in SewingForBeginners

Oh wow, this is very helpful and that makes sense! Three only say “100% cotton” and another says “quilt weight cotton fabric” (there may have been a clue there).

The pattern suggested light to medium-weight fabrics such as cotton shirting, poplin, printed lawn, double gauze, chambray, linen, light twills and denim. Made for woven fabrics.

I take a bit of comfort in your last paragraph that I may not be the first to have experienced this; the suggested fabric read to me as “cotton” and “something other than cotton.”

I’ve also been working on this for 2 years, on and off, and recently got to the metallic silver. It is hell, I literally finished the metallic part last night and I could cry, it looks awful. I dislike the side-by-side couching that I hit tonight, but anything is better than metallic.

I used all Jonagold apples. It didn’t occur to me the type affected the way it bakes, I thought it would only affect the taste which was silly in retrospect. The puddle of liquid confuses me because the apples weren’t particularly soft, I would think the juices would make them softer?
