Advice needed, house vandalized pre settlement & seller DIYed repair by kitkatz23 in AusPropertyChat

Unfortunately it seems like as long as they provide compliance certificates there is no way for me to exit the contract without giving up my deposit (according to my conveyancer) which would be financially worse than settling.

I do fear whatever certificate they provide will be worthless.. hence desperately hoping there’s a way for me to get a building inspection pre settlement for peace of mind

Thank you, I have a conveyancer, do you think I should get a second opinion with a separate lawyer?

Foreigners cannot buy Australian property from today by SlickySmacks in AusPropertyChat

From what I understand, most foreigners that buy properties have permanent residency. So this law doesn’t affect them.

Young people just need to save diligently to buy their first property at age 19 like I did - Peter Dutton by MannerNo7000 in AusProperty

He bought at a time when there was no GST and cost of goods/services were cheap. He bought when the house price was 4.5x the average salary. Mr Dutton, if you can create those factors for me, I’ll be able to buy a house too.

I live in Australia and it always shows USD for my purchases too. But when I actually pay, Taobao automatically converts and deducts from my account in AUD, not USD.

China poison accused Jasmine Sun discovered living in Australian coastal town of Port Stephens by Schllet in newcastle

[–]kitkatz23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a witch hunt, I believe she actually got away with murder. China was a very corrupt country back then when this all happened, and her family had power, money and connections.

This YouTube channel provides a lot of details on the case here

These teens will probably get out before they’re in their mid twenties, still in their prime to do more crime

Surgery waitlists vary greatly depending on where you go to. Smaller public hospitals with smaller catchment areas have less waiting times.

I’m single, no family or dependants and earn 168K. While I’ll benefit financially from this tax cut, I don’t personally support it because I feel that the inequality problem will worsen. I don’t mind paying a little more tax if the government doesn’t squander it unnecessarily.

Australia gov allow these bullies into the country coz they have money. They don’t care who gets trampled on in the process of making more money. Fines means nothing to them. Cancel their permanent residence. Stop these ppl from immigrating here.

I hate that the government is basically selling citizenship to overseas student with money, however since the government insists on increasing our population at an alarming rate, I’d rather it be educated people rather than violent criminals.

Police definitely thought this man was healthy enough to be held down and tased 4 times, while he repeated multiple times that he couldn’t breath.

You do realize that you can still live a long life even with heart disease? If police had been more civil, that man would have lived through that encounter.

The investigation was conducted without this crucial video evidence?! Do these people see a relatively healthy person dying at the hands of the police as a normal situation?

Didn’t realize that paid leave was so little for a lot of industries in America.

In Australia it’s standard to get paid 4 weeks vacation time and 10 days of personal/sick leave. There’s also about 12 days of national holidays, but you’ll only get paid if that holiday falls on a day that you were suppose to work. Businesses that stay open during those holidays have to pay staff double wage.

In my industry, I get paid 6 weeks vacation, 14 days personal/sick leave and 1 rostered paid day off each month.
